Hi all,

My stock (0 lift) FJ40 is in need of rear springs. So far I have a lead on a used pair but wanted to see if I could locate a reasonably priced new pair.

anyone know where I should look? Are there after market springs that are zero lift? Or must I go to toyota? I have also recently been reading about DAKAR, do they make zero lift springs?

anyone recommend someone for these?
thanks

I got some Alcan Springs. They will make whatever you want. I know lots of people have stock springs available but it seems like they will all have sag being 30+ years old

thanks everyone for your input. A few replies.
ALASKA45: If my fronts are 0 lift and the rears, say, 2.25" lift will it be a noticeable difference? Is it silly to do this? I am trying to avoid replacing all 4 ($$$$)

GRANT5127: Thank you for the contact. I'll call hell's creek.

IFORDJC: Yes, I already have an offer for used springs pretty cheap, but I am somewhat concerned about trading my problem springs for someone elses problem springs. In the end, I may have no choice but to go this route, but I wanted to hear if anyone could provide new springs like the old ones.

Rodeo: thank you for the tip, I will contact alcan.

CruiserStuff: Thanks for the note. Actually the reason I need to replace them isnt the sag, but the scoring. Each leaf has been cutting into the next leaf above it significantly. I worry that one of the scored springs will snap at that point. If I only had sag you are right, some spring helpers or otherwise would be best.

thanks again to everyone.

I guess if alcan and hell don't pan out (too $$$ for stock) then here's the question to everyone. How "dumb" is it to put 2.25" in the rear and keep the stock in the front? What will the effect be? Will the truck look odd?

BTW: I contacted a spring person locally who quoted $325/spring for stock! Sheesh!

Regards
Eugene
