WTF
so I get in the cruiser after dinner and the toyota logo comes on and no i agree message, instead it went black. no heater, no cd player .
after messing with it I got a message that said something about the air conditoner not being connected.:crybaby:

I've heard tales of this, but luckily never experienced it.

I'll be interested to hear how you get it resolved. Good luck.

So, it works because you see the toyota logo, but then goes black....That doesn't sound like a good design. What were you doing to got the A/C message?

got the ac message when i try to turn on defrost.
talkd to a budy who has a snap on scaner and he is going to see if it has a code or somthing.
other then that i guess i will try the dealer:mad:.

to lx
no it wont come on after yota logo it goes black.

Does anything come up after the TOY logo (MAP, Audio, etc.)? You mentioned something about A/C, do you see the A/C display?

put in a call to car toys who put in my dice ipod thing and i want make sure somthing didnt come unpluged.

wating on call back...:bang:

after logo its blank if you try to use a climate setting it says check a/c. if you mess with auido it puts up the auido off message.
the screen still works it acts like somthing isnt hooked up.

New here, former lurker, but I had to register when I saw the problem with the nav system.

I have a 2006 100 series and my nav system recently did the same thing as described. The message was something like"not connected to external source".

Took it to the dealer (works fine, now) and they said no code in the computer, but that they had seen this before and the fix was a new nav system. It's on order. Thank goodness mine's under warranty.

Lovely...The joys of technology. I guess I should be glad that "only" my nav disc reader went bad...my display still works fine for the stereo and HVAC controls !! :crybaby:

Twice in the last three days, I have found that my audio system has "lost" XM. When I press the AM/SAT button, I get AM only. When I press the disc button, I get the message, "The external device is not connected." The CD cartridge will eject, etc., but the disc player is not recognized on the NAV screen. Powering the audio system on and off has no effect, but turning the key on and off restores XM and disc - at least for the two times it has happened so far. Faman's experience might indicate that there will be no computer code to tell what is wrong. In my experience, dealers are reluctant to look for an intermittent problem that isn't showing when I drive in.

Faman, was this your problem, or was it the black screen that Jonah has?

Somewhere in between. I attempted to turn on the radio and got a screen message "Audio Off". This was regardless of what I did to activate the radio or disc player. Always "Audio Off". When pushing the navigation system button, the "Audio Off" screen went blank and nothing happened with the nav system. I also noticed that the climate controls were all de-activated. Affter pushing buttons to try everything, I got a screen message "not connected to external source". After driving for a while, parking the car and starting it again, the system was back to normal--everything worked, and has worked fine since. This was about a week ago.

I took it to the dealer thinking that the failure might have generated a code in the computer but they said no codes were present. Like I said, however, the Tech said he had seen this before and the only fix was a complete replacement of the nav system. They ordered one and will replace under warranty when it arrives. I just hope the new one has been improved so as to last longer than two years.

Frankly, I could do without the navigation system--I just want audio and climate controls. Ain't technology grand?

As a post script, I traded a 1997 LX450 on this LC. After 11 years, the Lexus audio (no navigation) and A/C worked flawlessly. Don't get me started.

Nav is cool and has saved my ass more than a couple times in my business. That being said- I am not impressed with nav to the point of recommending someone get it. If you live in an area with development, your looking at upgrading your disk to "hopefully" add the new streets and business locations. I say hopefully, because it is not guaranteed the new disk has your new development on it. My Mom was visiting and needed to go to Costco. I went to program it in so she could get there and it wasn't found. Costco had been in the area for at least a year before I bought my rig. Toyota should give a free one time upgrade. On a side note, she loved driving it....

That in combination with the "lose everything" problem when it goes out- ain't worth it. Although it is not as convenient, my blackberry is more accurate.......I want my knobs back....

Good luck guys.

Sounds like a loose connection. x2 on popping it out to check. There are 10+ plugs back there that could have come loose during the iPod thingy install.

went to car toys
plug out or somthing ...all good..:D

on the way out of the parking lot i went to turn right and hit a bicycle Fu#k.. after the ambulance took him off the cops wanted to know what that thing on my truck was called .:D just a bumper.
no problem with no plate on front and tire blocking back one.

the guy on the bike was ok.

damn i got bumped by a lady in a mini-van once on my bicycle...and that was a plastic bumper.

I WOULD NOT WANT TO BE HIT by an ARB, haha.

My Nav has freaked out and went all purple horizontal lines across, but remedied itself after restarting the truck.

Haven't had it gone black yet. Knock on wood.
