Nav System

I am looking at a '93 Land Cruiser with Navagation package. It has not been updated since the car was new. The local Toyota dealer quoted me $250.00 for the update DVD (2005 is the latest available). I have Garmin GPS units and was wondering if the latest Garmin DVD (No. Amer. Version 7) would download into this system. If not, does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks

Do you mean 03 instead of 93? I didn't know they even made nav systems that old. The $250 for the update cd sounds about right compared to what others have posted here in the past. I don't believe you could use a Garmin DVD though, the disc stays in the nav unit all the time and is Toyota specific.

He probably means '03.

The Nav DVD is proprietary so your Garmin info will not download.

You could check E-bay to see if there is anyone is selling a copy, but aside from that, I'm not sure you have a lot of options.

Another Question

This brought up a question I have - Where the heck do you load the DVD?

In my Audi it is behind the Nav faceplate - but I have never seen a slot in the LC

It's in a separate unit underneath the front passenger seat.
