Can anyone recommend some 'roads less traveled' here in the Nashville area?

Just looking for forest roads, dirt roads etc
Somewhere we could go out just for a day of fun driving and recreation.

Would like to find somewhere no more than 45mins - 1hour from Nashville.

Thanks:beer:

Come down our way, there is Woolys or Wheeling in the country.

Now as far as private land, I have been taken a few places but bringing others.... dont know yet?:hhmm:

Yeah ive been meaning to get down to Woolys for a while now. Its just over an hour away for us.

Is there ever a meet and greet down there? Would like to meet some more members.

What else you guys got?
Surely Woolys cant be the only thing?

Think im going to order a Delorme book for Tennessee. Any of you have luck using this?

Woolys is close, but not a ton of trails....
Wheeling in the country..... may find out this next weekend, meet the owner son in law, invited us to come out & wheel:D

Private land, well, I have been there a hand full of times but now with temps cooling off I'll be there more:cool:

I think there has to be dirt roads, fire trails, ect that would make a good weekend trip, wife & I have been wanting to go to Pickett State park, hear there are trails that a way:meh:

Ooh that sounds cool. Would you be willing to share or are you just getting me excited for no reason?! :D

Today ordered the Delorme Atlas for Tennessee, so hopefully it will give some trails around Nashville.
If anyone is interested in what I find out and wants to go ride reply to this thread, otherwise ... :meh:
This board is pretty quiet

Have you ever been out to the Cheatham county powerlines? If not how about the Narrows of the Harpeth? If you know where the Narrows are, cross the bridge turn left at the "T", take it to the end and you should be on the powerlines. Turn left and you should find miles and miles of fun. At least it used to be that way when I lived there. Good luck

Hey Big Bore thanks for the suggestions.

I saw the Cheatham county powerlines (at least i think its that one) on my new DeLorme map but havent had a chance to explore it yet.

Hadnt heard of the Narrows of the Harpeth, but i'll look into it

Thanks

I'm in the same boat. Looking for some local wheeling. I'm up for trying any place and my schedules flexible. Let me know if you want some company to try some places out.

Yawl Im open for finding new places, just remember I'm mostly only home on weekends so I have to plan ahead.

keep in touch!

Looks like a few of us are going to head down to Woolys this weekend if anyone is interested?

We are going to meet on Saturday at the Moors Lane Cool Springs exit off I65 around 8:30/9:00 which will put us down there sometime around 10am ish

Hope to see some of you there

I've lived in Franklin for the last 4 years after moving from west texas where there was unlimited wheeling within 4 hours. So I have the itch to find out where exactly the Cheatham county power lines are and which part of the Narrows is rideable. I googled both and nothing came up for Cheatham and the Narrows was listed as atv and bikes only. Any general directions would be awesome.

Would love to find out about some roads south of Nashville. The Bride and I really enjoy riding the backroads and old forest roads of Bankhead and Talledega Forests in Alabama.

I have a Delorme map which shows the area pretty good. Im hoping to head out that way as soon as I get the chance. Will update this post if I find anything decent out about the area with regards to taking our rigs off road.

Stay tuned. If I hear of anything or find anything i'll post up.

Be careful, just because Delorme shows the roads, does not mean that they are open or not private land.

This is a great place to go, there is 3 things that is a must on this ride, very good brakes, good clutch and good tires. also don't go alone. I lived in Cheatham Co for 25yrs and they was a guy killed in a fj40 about 30 yrs ago. There is one place there if you was laying down in the bed of a truck going up the hill it would fill like you was standing up.lol This is just my .02 worth. Lee:)
