Is anyone running Narrow Super swampers on their 70 series? Im looking at the 34x9.50x16's.

Anyone have any information or pictures of them on your truck?

I ran Swampers on my BJ70 for years. They fit great and performed fine. I effectively retired them two years ago. They had reasonable tread left, but they have gotten stiff and brittle with age (close to 15 years old).

I think 34s will rub on the rear of the wheel arch inside. No experience with that tyre size but I seem to remember others saying 33s are about the biggest you can go. That could be different if you are only going with 9.50. Its not hard to modify the wheel arch. Some use a big hammer ,or you can cut the corner off and rejoin a flattened piece

thank you. anyone know if ^^^ is true

Yes 35" tires will rub at full steering lock when flexing the suspension. Re drilling the centering hole on the axle leaf spring perch 25-30mm is very common to eliminate rubbing. I think you might be good with the skinny 34's though

Also although I have not run the Narrow TSL SS I have run the 31x10.5 TSL's on a Pinzgauer, 39.5x13.5 Iroks on a Unimog and 35x12.5 Trxus MT's on my BJ74. Two things they all have in common, first is they wear very very fast on hard surfaces due to the soft compounds but thats also what gives them good traction on the rocks. Second is they are very heavy because of the 6 ply tread and 4 ply sidewalls but of course this is what makes them so rugged. I quickly discovered how much power that extra rotating mass steals not to mention the extra effort it requires on the brakes when stopping. Obviously none of the vehicles I mentioned are known for having great power or brakes

Just to put it in perspective the 35x12.5 Trxus mounted on a steal rim were 35lbs a piece heavier then the same size Mickey Thompson MTZ mounted on an alloy. Needless to say I got rid of the Trxus and put the MTZ's back on

so what is suggested for my set up. These are 33x10.50x15. I have the OEM 16" rims. Id like a bit more meat and height but not width.

If you like the Narrow SS and your not worried about tread wear and are not going to be burning them up and down the highway regularly I'd say get them. They will certainly look good on your Cruiser with the deep aggressive lugs and that little bit of added height. Personally I think they will have just enough fender clearance and besides I am guessing a truck that nice isn't going to get wheeled hard. I was also looking at the specs and they are 20lbs a piece lighter then the 35x12.5R16 Trxus M/T's I was running.

If i get the pizza cutters should i put wheel spacers and push them out a little bit?

I am running 1.5 inch Spidertrax spacers on mine as we speak. No skinnies however. 285/75/16 on 8 inch wide 80 wheels.

If I owned that truck I'd have a set of 80 alloys on it with 1.5 spacers and 285/75/16 MT Baja MTZs faster than you could say "get me another beer".:grinpimp:

There are two distinctive groups here on 'MUD.
The skinny (pizza cutter) tire group ..... Partially represented by a guy in S.W. Georgia.
The fat (big and wide) tire group ....... Partially represented by a guy in New Mexico.
Both groups have merit but much like the Chevy / Ford group, they will never agree.

I disagree.....:rimshot:
Allow me to clarify .....
The fat tire group partially represented by the gentleman in New Mexico has a tendency to be disagreeable by nature.
The other group is often the life of the party. (You can read into that what you wish)

Pffft..:steer:

I have the 16" alloys - They were an option for the 70 series and i got 5 off of Beno. I am definitely in the tall skinner crowd, kinda how i like my women

Dan which spacers are they? Same as fj40?

and I don't think i would go 1.5" spacers. maybe 1".

Would you skinny tire guy run spacers on the 34x9.5 or keep it as is?

Any idea what the back spacing on those rims are? Also what width are they? With those fender flares you will likely want spacers to balance it out a bit. I run 3.5" backspacing on 8" wide rims with 12.5" wide tires and 1" spacers. Tires stick out 2" past the body (no flares). Just to give you an idea of where yours will sit...... Fat tires attract skinny woman ;)
