It sounds like it's coming from the tailgate which I don't believe it is. Started after a 4 wheeling trip. Went through some manditory mud crossings and dropped on each side of the rear bumper. Got home, cleaned off all the dirt and rock (i think) from the undercarriage, inside of bumpers etc. Now I've got this rattle that comes from the rear of the truck when I'm going about 10 mph and turning right. I also get it when I shut off the engine. The truck does a quick rattle to stop. The driveshaft is tight, the rear gate is tight, and I don't know what to look for. Any ideas?

I have the same sound right now because I busted my rear exhaust mount. 4wheeling is not nice to low hanging exhaust tubes.

Mine is an aftermarket exhaust installed by P.O. but most exhaust mounts are the same. look for torn rubber between the two metal plates from frame to exhaust. The end of the pipe usually rattles on the quarter panel becuase it has been pushed up there by rocks and bent.

I also

I also have a rattle/clunking from the back that I can't ID.

New mount on rear tailpipe so its not that...

Loiwer tailgate is tight...

Upper tailgate is tight...

shocks are tight...

No endplay on rear axles...

Weird...

For overly meticulous cruiserheads, its annoying

1. slack in transmission linkages?

2. Fuel pump hard lines may be mission the gasket that holds them in place...?

On the passenger side rear there is a cover plate for those lines that go into the quarter ...for the gas evap. lines or whatever you want to call it. Check that. Mine would rattle all the damn time

What color is the truck?

:D

Just kiddin! X2 on other posts. I have what I think is an exhaust rattle and it actually makes noise for a few seconds after the truck is shut off.

It was the exhaust. It's routed out to the side behind the back tire and had been bent up and was rattling against the frame rail. Stepped on it and its all fixed! Thanks guys.
