Hello all,

Been hearing a mysterious rattle from the rear of my 100 series for the past month or so. Any one heard this before? Any advice/tips would be helpful! It's a 2002 LX
Here is a link to the noise: Rattle Video

Thanks!

That sounds like the rear axle. Sticking caliper, parking brake, or rotor. Does it happen when you first pull away after starting the truck and change any after the first application of the brakes?

I tried applying slight pressure to the breaks, no change, also tried lifting the E brake one click, no change.

Have you been under the truck and did a tug and twist on the rear control arms? They can give a squeak and rattle over even slight bumps if the bushings are shot.

Just replaced the lowers a few months back, I will test the uppers when I get home.

The park brake assembly can rattle. there are a couple of rubber bump stops that should land on the back of the backing plate (i.e. you can get to them without taking everything apart) when the handbrake is disengaged to stop the mechanism rattling around. Worth checking as they worked for me.
