Cool post, i wish someone from Australia would do a post like this to show the even more awesome factory options that that US didnt get ( factory winch, subtank, etc)

The new dodge power wagons have front/rear lockers, winch, and electronic disconnecting swaybars. Still a very expensive option to wheel.

I talked to a power wagon owner, he said going offroad voids his warranty. for the price of a power wagon you could build and bash a dozen 80s.

Great post, there is also a dust collection compartment under the air cleaner towards the firewall. Didn't notice it until i pulled my engine......

Is this a fact? And if so, is it common for an off road vehicle in the US?

Don't forget the A442F! Heck of a tranny...

It may be, I had a 03 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 #0074 out of 4,500 built the first year. During track / autocross days, they sent Mitsu spies to write down license plate numbers and void entire drivetrain warrantys on anyone participating! It's a damn race car!

No personal experience but I would expect that to be the case. Can you imagine having to honor warranties on vehicles if people drove them the way they do in some of the commercials? Hauling ass down trails, or all out over uneven rough terrain. Driving through 4ft deep mud holes at 60mph.... There's one grand Cherokee commercial where it shows just the underside of the vehicle as the "skid plate" bashes through rocks as it drives over a mountain.

posted with my thumbs.

Or if you try to use a pickup bed as the front landing gear for a commercial aircraft? I've thought for a long time that car advertisements should show real cars doing real things that wouldn't void the warranty.

Like Jeep!

5 year bump for a tad dated post, still great information for any newbie looking for a rig. At the time of posting this, not many rigs had factory lockers but that has changed in recent years...enjoy!

i learnt me sum thin from this post.
fuel tank drain, considering the condition of my filter when i replaced it it maybe worth while to drain the tank and see how much crud i can get out or see if there is any.
thanks for edumakatin us

when i pulled out the interior i did find the fuel pump access, which was a wow moment because in a ford bronco you have to make one if you don't want to drop the tank to change the fuel pump, and the bronco tank is 1/2" from the sheet metal.
good luck grinding that out.
