My take on an Ammo can centre console (1 Viewer)

I decided to make a centre console, and will be making a shifter console too.

Is anybody still interested in a center console?

We've been working on one for a bit now, incorporating into our Cummins 2.8L FJ80 swap along with a bunch of other parts that you'll be asked for feedback on in the near future. Most of our designs start in the virtual environment. We recently purchased a 3D scanner to help speed that process...

My cruiser is an Aussie GXL spec 93 FZJ80, manual trans.
It has a centre console with single lid on top, and no shifter console.

Lack of arm rest, cup holders, pocket for phone, and charging ports has bugged me for a while.

Love what @Delta VS have done, unfortunately with exchange rates and shipping to the bottom of the earth, it puts it out of my league.

Quite a while back I found what @shermantank55 did with an ammo can for his Dingo build. And put feelers out for 20mm ammo cans. (Not readily available in Aus)

I've had a chunk of time off work the past couple of weeks, and decided to have a crack at cobbling something together.

My take is a little different to Shermantank's.
I'm tall, and wanted it at arm rest height. And I have retro fitted Audi seats to give me a seating position further back.
I also have a manual transmission, and need clearance for the stick shift.

This is a work in progress. I intend to cover it fully with black vinyl.

Lid is hinged in two parts to give access to a sliding tray in the from part, or lift the whole lid for access to the bottom of the console.

Front lid has a lip around the edges, and is perfect spot for a phone.

I will probably install an inverter under the back part of it where it's sits up off the floor but not fully decided yet

Time flies when you're having fun.

Finished this on the weekend, refitted it tonight.

Really like this. It's a great arm rest, good storage.

I've added my inverter underneath it, and a fuse box for my Audi seats and interior accessories. Still need to wire it up.

Covered the ammo can with some closed cell foam and black vinyl to match my black leather Audi seats
