My starter breather fix

My starter breathers were broken. I fixed them with small hose.

I've got a small intermittent starter issue and have been reading up how to get to it. I appreciate the work it took just to get it out to take a picture and repair.

Did you pull it just to change the breathers?!

No, I removed it to check the condition of contacts and plunger. First breather broke when I touched it, second breather broke when my trouble light landed on it.

Reduces condensation inside of starter. Also, the spinning armature creates pressure inside the housing and that needs to go somewhere.

I am not good with education but Google says "A vent or valve to release pressure or to allow air to move freely around something."

Wish you posted that 3.5 years ago. I would have used one of them to fix it.

OEM Reman came with a broken vent. The little plastic part in the vent boot snapped off. Poor packaging. Just leave the boot off with instructions to install it.
