Welp, Here are tonight's pic's.

I'm not thrilled about the round fenders, But I couldn't find any squared type that would fit a 33" tire locally.

I added some steps, As you can imagine they will help getting in and out on the side and hopefully they will add a bit of protection.

Definitely need some fender flairs.

Of course the Max Coupler installed.

along with some new safety chains.

Not too much going on here other than I built some tail light brackets, Towed it around the neighborhood to see how it would go and it pulled very nicely, I also did a bit more grinding.
I did manage to jack-knife it at the school without the basket and I had a good 4" room between the rear bumper on the 80 and the trailer frame.
Sorry no pic's.
I have an appointment in a little over a week to get it sand blasted and primed so I can get it painted

Looks awesome !!

Build is coming along nicely!!

Good, strong construction, like that front rack:beer:

The trailer is looking great, nice work

Thanks Dan!

I've been pining away the days waiting to take the trailer in for SB and primer, Which is a good thing I guess, It has let me get a few thing done on the 40 so I can tow the trailer.
I made some 3/4" taller shackles, Tracked down and fixed my PS leak, I still need to wire the 40 for the trailer and tighten up the rear tire carrier, I have the flares on order as well as new motor mount bushings... The list goes on.

Here is a pic of what I plan to use the front Basket for.

Hopefully the next pic's I post will be of a blasted and primed trailer.

I forgot to add, I was in the middle of welding a couple of washers on the tongue where the pin goes through when I ran out of wire :(

I L O V E it!
Got it back at about 4pm today, It came in under bid at $150 for the blast and prime, I took it straight home behind the 80, Towed wonderful again.
I got to work on the wiring, I stopped by State trailer supply in WVC to see about one of the tail light converters, They had just what I needed for a cool $17.00 I wired it in and it worked perfectly! Then I got to a few other things I took off for the work to be done.
After the wiring I started in on the fender flare and mud flaps, Unfortunately I only got one side finished before it got too late.

I drove it around the block and it feels great so far, I don't hear much noise at all, I even jack-knifed it at the school to see what it would do, I had more clearance than the FZJ80.
Now mind you, I'm taking this on the Relic Run so I don't really have time to paint it yet, Hopefully it wont see much water.

Its finally coming together :)

It looks great!

An extra receiver on the rear might have come in handy.

I've consider getting one of those cooler type receiver carrier racks just to use for collecting firewood along the way to camp.

And then there's the Bumper Dumper

KICKASS!
Nice call on the bumper dumper

I wanted the receiver for a bike carrier or the like, I guess we shall see what I can come up with.

All, I am about to start on the lid to the trailer, Michelle had an idea about a domed top, I wasn't sold, But I bent a piece and I think it could work, The skin would be cake compared to what I had thought about building, Similar to the type Equipt sells, Here is a quickly bent up piece.

The front and back would be flat, Unless I can build an angled front piece, You know for aerodynamics and all :silly:
I have an idea about a removable hinge system, But I would like to try a mock up first.
Thoughts?

A domed lid should work as far as shedding water. The drawback is putting anything on top. You can build a frame, which would distort the clean lines of the dome. Or maybe there's nothing needed up there?

I would not sweat the aerodynamics. Not enough mpg there to make it worth the trouble of streamlining.

I would certainly be building a frame, 3x1" tube for the mating surface, Then add 6-8 of the curved rib's with support bars running front to back, We are planning on putting a RTT up there, So it would need to be somewhat strong.
Like I mentioned, I am working on a hinge system so I can remove the lid for utility duty.

Yes, I was totally joking about the aerodynamics.
Thanks for the thoughts

Decided I should get crackin on the lid, Here are a few pic's of the work I have done the last few days.

After building the rectangle framework, I had to figure out how I was going to put some hinges on it, I decided the best way for me to go was to plaz out a hole and weld in the hinges.

I've also finished bending all the roof arches, 6 total, I bent them with my HF tube bender.

I want to add a few bars running front to back to keep the arches in place, I'm thinking I will rivet the outed cover on this time rather than weld, I also need to figure out the tent mount, But thats another day.

Great job on the trailer. You must have lots of money tied up in it though. I would have started with a derelict pop up for the base.
Why not use bed coating on the trailer? You could do the inside only or the whole thing.

You pics make me sad, I see the Triumph in the back getting no love. Though mine is in my basement getting no love either right now

Thanks, Its not a cheap thing to build, But I wanted a durrable platform to start with.
I have some bed liner inside the trailer now, I ran out, So I need to get more to finish the inside, I also have some left over auto paint to match my FJ40, I will have to see how far that may go.

Yes the Triumph... Its been on the back burner for 4 years, I keep saying I will get back to it, But I always seem to find something else more apealing.

:beer:Looks Great Brian!!

I'm with Mike on this one...I think the dome looks awesome..and will function well too.

I believe photogod has a domed top on his..but he's so damn cranky...we probably couldn't pursuade him to post a pic.

Maybe you should let Michelle make all the important decisions......:flipoff2:
