:beer:Looks Great Brian!!

I'm with Mike on this one...I think the dome looks awesome..and will function well too.

I believe photogod has a domed top on his..but he's so damn cranky...we probably couldn't pursuade him to post a pic.

Maybe you should let Michelle make all the important decisions......:flipoff2:

Pat

Thank you sir.
I will let you know how the decision making goes in the future :hhmm:

Thought I'd steal PhotoGod's thunder and post before he could, just to make him "cranky" hahaha.

After self medicating and finishing the "Walk with the Blind" this morning, I thought I would get sumthin sumthin done in the garage.
Mountain West paint had some of their store brand of chassis black paint for $25.00 a gallon so you know I couldn't pass that up!

All the grayish parts, I'm hoping to paint the same color of blue as our FJ40, I masked some of it off and then wondered why... as I'm sure you can tell.

That is looking really nice.

Thanks!

Me and my wife have been brainstorming ideas on how to cover the domed lid, She brought up Plexiglas, I like the idea, But I'm not sure how well it would bend and if it would be prone to cracking where I rivet it on, I was thinking about some light weight steel sheet, But I cant seem to find any that is large enough for a single piece, It needs to be a 50x72" piece, Most of the stuff locally comes in 4x8' sheets.
:hhmm:

Brian,
Neat idea. What may work better is Lexan.

Don't know how a big a sheet it's available in. That might be tough.

didn't see it, but did you mention what fender flares and mudflaps you used?
if not, bit of info?
TIA

Sorry about that.
The flares are CJ7 rear flares, IIRC $40.00 for the set from 4 wheel parts.
Fenders were off the shelf 37" fenders from a trailer supply $40.00 a set as well

EDIT...
Crap, I didnt read correctly, Mudflaps were a single Semi truck mudflap cut in half then cut to fit.

I almost have the lid finished.
All the metal is welded up, I just need to do a little grinding and then I can paint it, I have some stainless steel being cut to cover the top, I'm going to adhere it with 3M VHB tape and then get it fitted.

Some of the most recent work.

Brian,
The lid's a work of art!

After stuffing and repacking several times for a trip to Michigan's UP next week, I'm convinced that I'll need a big square boxy shape to squeeze all my cr*p under a lid.:p

Work of art... Thanks! But I would not call it art. One nice thing about the lid rib's that go front to back is I could hang lighter items from it if necessary.
Square and boxy is the best shape, It makes it easy to fit stuff.

So do you have an estimate of how much this thing now will weigh?

Not yet, I figure the lid without an RTT to be about 100lbs, The RTT weigh's about 100lbs.
FWIW, I can still lift the trailer enough to slide it over a foot or so when its attached to a vehicle(I'm no tough guy, I weigh 165 and 5'10"(just for reference :hillbilly:)), I need to get it weighed, But I don't know of a local business that would want to do that, There are coal/wood sellers that have scales by my house, I may need to see if I could slip them a 10 or something to try it.
However, I think it weighs in around 500Lbs easily, I'm trying to stay under the 750Lbs so I don't have to register it.
