While looking for a pintle hook on the eBays, I found a poorly listed item that I just couldn't walk away from, considering it's only a 25min drive from home, and just 15min away from school.

Picking it up Tuesday night.

I don't need it right now, the Jap T-73 with the RTT is doing just fine. I just don't think I am going to find such a clean example for less any time soon. For the next 6-8mo or so, it will sit untouched in the storage area, but after that....

MUAHAHA

Congrats!

That's some sweet looking raw material.

Looking forward to this build. The M116A2 is a great trailer. a great price too, no other bidders.. those fenders make a great place for a grill and cook surface.

I bought mine with the same teardrop design in mind " it is the perfect starting point"

Keep us posted when you start. and do a build blog.

This is what I started with $150.00 and what I have now.

nice cleanup job

I really like it when guys take something that looks ugly and turn it into something nice and usefull again. Great use or resources.

I have been thinking of buy a small trailer for my tools and take the bolted down tool box that is in my truck, and put it in the trailer. At least the truck can be made more usefull again.

Getting ready for a 9-day adventure in the Black Hills, so I had a shakedown run this weekend on the shores of Lake Superior.

Mark, I checked out your entire thread and will be paying homage to it in time. I don't have much use for the flat chassis, especially when the topper for the T-73 comes off with 6-bolts. That trailer is used and abused for utility and camping, so building the teardrop just makes sense.

Already have a buyer for the brake system, wheels, tires, and axle lined up. :) Dexter 3500lb, electric brakes, and a M416 style lunette, or a max coupler... but that is all down the road.

Look twice at the Max Coupler, there are several more on the market now and they are easier to hook up in off camber positions.

I'm apparently out of the loop, what other couplers have become available?

ntsqd,, There are others, ill list em here and they be flagged if do PM me and ill give you the info

Safari Pacific.com really nice device

Lok and Roll, Chicago based foundry company.

Have one used and abused it still workin vrey well. both are kinda pricy but negotiations are possible.

Lock-n-Roll precedes the Max Coupler by several years. Had an LnR for a bit, one of their first gens & wasn't all that impressed with it's crudity. Didn't know that Safari-Pacific had gotten into the market. Have to have a look at those. Thanks!

EDIT: Had a look, S-P doesn't have pictures posted yet.
