I traded my 94 FJ80 for a 66 FJ40 last night.....

No real plans as of right now but to get it running smooth. When I got it last night it would not start. Could get it to fire up with starting fluid but would not run on its own.
The motor and carb are from a 71.
I pulled the top of the carb off and cleaned what I could from there. I did get it to start on full choke but would die if I stepped on the gas or tried to move the choke.
This morning I fooled around a little and got it to run with minimal choke but still is not right. Gonna pull it and rebuild it.

Here are some pictures I just took.

Ok, pulled the carb last night and cleaned it and the old metal line that runs from the pump up to the carb. It was a pain to get all the old grim and crud out but I got it. I got a ton of crap out of there and I think that was the main problem cause it starts and runs fine now :steer: , only put about 5 miles on it so well see how it goes.

I'm starting to get a list of stuff I wanna do in my head now, not sure what I wanna do next though.
I know I need to do something to get the firewall and floor sealed up around the shifters and insulated....man does it get hot in there! Even with no top!!!

wlcome to the mental illness that is FJ40

Thanks guys.

Yes it is spring green. My kids says it looks like mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Hey ruger,
I see you have some Triumph's, I have a 81 TR-7 convertible. You can just barely see the front of it in the 3rd pic. I've had it since 1986 or 87.

Looks great! You got the best year too! Glad you got the carb issue figured out. Congrats!!

I'm thinking about selling the 40. $5,500 OBO
If anyone's interested shoot me an email, spraar@aol.com

SOLD!

Lasted about 2&1/2 days on Craigslist and sold for more than I was asking!

Got at least 15 emails in less than 48 hours........ Someone linked my ad to mud classifieds and Mud member Miko out bid everyone else and is the new owner.

Congrats Miko, enjoy!
