Hello Everyone, I wanted to introduce myself to the 90's forum, I am a regular in the 80's forum, but due to some job changes I moved from Orlando, Florida to Bogota, Colombia. I recently purchased a 2008 Prado VX 5 Speed. It is completely stock, for now. Its not an 80 but its Landcruiser nonetheless. I will be moderately wheeling this rig mainly for long trips. I picked up the rig on friday and right off the bat it was off to Villaviciencio, a city about 90km from Bogota. The rig handled well, it has a 3.4L V6 engine, with a 5 speed manual transmission. It drives well, wish it was the 4.5L but it isnt, could use a little more power but it does the job well.

I look forward in adding to the forum with some upgrades and other projects. First upcoming project, I am going to adding HIDS to the Rig. I have a set laying around and it just happened to be an H4 bi-xenon kit 8000K. I will be documenting that project this week. For any members here in Bogota that would like to meet up please let me know I will be making a thread maybe in the Events Forum to gather up any Colombia rigs and possible set up a Landcruiser Crew if there isnt already one on here in MUD.

Here are some pics of my trip..

When I picked her up from the Toyota Dealer in Bogota..

Welcome

Frank, welcome to Bogota, very nice new toy, hope to see you soon. Sent you a PM.

Regards,

Alvaro.

LOL. I know. It turned out that the 2 door Prado was too small for my family and same with the 70 Series. I wanted an 80 but I couldnt find a brand new one. so I ended up with the Prado, I will be getting my Off road rig once I have more time to search for one, We were on a time constraint as getting a car is not as easy as in the states. This will do for a now....

Yeah, you can say that again... buying used cars here is practically impossible!!! people fall in love with their cars so they charge you a premium because THEY love it... Only in Colombia!

If you are going for a trail only rig, there are a few 40's to look at but you are right, 70 and 90 2dr series are pretty small. once again, congrats... its a great vehicle none the less...

Thanks Eduardo, Yeah I needed to bring the rig back to its roots, OFF ROAD. I will be posting some pics of an HID conversion I did to it already. We need to get this Forum to be very active and full of technical goodies...

HIJACK!

Frank, i noticed you purchased your Prado at DISTOYOTA at 154th street... there's a 4x4 club there with a pretty cool track, i dont know if you asked about it.... but im a member and its a pretty cool place to test out your new accessories and in your case, your new truck. Clearly i wouldn't recommend going into the "fosa profunda" since it is a new car, but some of the mudholes might be interesting. PM me when you decide to go get your ride dirty...Maybe Alvaro wants to come to since i see we are the only 3 people active on mud from colombia...

Just a thought.

I wish they sold Prados in the US that weren't the hideously ugly GX470s.....

Agree, that's an interesting place to have fun without going out of the city, we "the 3 lonely colombian mudders" should go there.

Alberto, are you going to the 4x4 Festival this weekend? Send me a PM with your cell number, we can meet at the race track with Frank.

Alvaro.

Love the Name "3 Lonely Colombian Mudders"!!!

We should all get together, and Wheel!!!!

I have taken the rig off-road already, when I bought it, took it to Villaviciencio, and I just returned from Cartagena, and took the rig to Playa Blanca, where she sustained some Battle Wounds...LOL Only thing is that I didnt take many pics of here in action.

Alberto - Hope all is well in Miami, give me a shout when you get back to Bogota.

TNtoyota - this rig in USD cost around 45k.

Mel Lowe - long time hope all is well see in the ol' ONF
