I have been following this site and lusting after others Land Cruisers for almost two years now with the plan of eventually buying one. I have been searching CL for months and finally bought what I think is a great bargain LC yesterday. The rig is a black 2004 Land Cruiser with 108,000, clear title, no accidents, original owner (middle-aged lady who had all work work done at the dealer  $$) and what appears to be every option available (DVD player, bluetooth, awesome upgraded stereo). I can't believe how much I love driving this truck. I have owned a number of cars and I have never driven anything quite like the LC. It feels indestructible and solid but is silky smooth at the same time. It is not perfect though unfortunately, as it served it's life carrying around four kids. It has some child related cosmetic defects (what I think is juice stains, dirty/somewhat sticky leather). The exterior also has some nicks and scrapes, which the black doesn't hide well. The only mechanical problem I have found so far is that the wiper fluid pump doesn't seem to work. I plan on using the LC as a DD but I would also like to start adventuring off pavement (extreme novice but I'll work at it:)). My first improvement will be to give the leather a good cleaning and maybe get the carpets shampooed. I also plan on removing the running boards and getting some better and bigger tires. One of the reason I was comfortable buying an LC was because of the enormous wealth of knowledge provided by the members of this forum. I'm really glad to finally be part of the Land Cruiser club. Thanks for all the information and LC love:)

Really nice. You're gonna LOVE climbing in that every day!

BTW, it "starts" with small mods like removing the running boards. You've already been bitten, there's no use in trying to fight it. Enjoy!

Congrats and Welcome!!! Looks pimp... :D

Nice 100! You should pay a visit to the LSLC chapter there in Austin. The Land Cruiser bug goes way beyond just a 100 series... and it's fun to see all the cruisers in the area others are building and playing with.

Welcome to Mud:flipoff2:

Just googled LSLC looks pretty cool, thanks for the recommendation. I'm fairly broke after the purchase but I have a feeling I might get addicted to mods

Very nice cruiser and they do cruise well! Congrats also and welcome to the LC world. So yea do take off the running boards it's super easy and when you get some more money going get some new tires.Lots of info here on that.If you want to see some pics.of my 04 with some BFG At's 275/70-18's just look at the thread I started on the towing/suspension ideas PICS.

Our 04 came from TX. from the Roundrock Carmax dealer there by Austin. My sister lives in Gerogetown!

Thanks for the welcome. I bought the cruiser from people in Georgetown...just down the road from the big "Georgetown" water storage tank. That's a nice area. I can't wait to get rid of the running boards, good to hear it's an easy job. The BFG A/Ts look really good on your 100. My brother has a similar tire on his truck and they are what I was thinking of upgrading to next. Do you have a lift? or do they already fit?

Howdy Austin,my 04 has no lift and tires fit great.I like the taller sidewalls and I have always liked the BFG At's on my trucks.I would replace stock springs and shocks just as soon as you can and maybe get just a mild lift.Like a Old Man Emu 1.5" or an Ironman 1.5".I have read some good things about the Ironman kits as I am thinking to do the same. But as the towing thread goes I am trying to get set up for that as well.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome!!

Very nice! Shoot me a PM if you need help with anything, I'm in north Austin off of 183/Oak Knoll. Happy to help with whatever.

Just curious what did you pay? I am looking at the exact same LC (year and color) with 77,000 miles on it, same deal mom driven kid stains on the interior but well maintained.

I paid $16500, which I personally think is a pretty damn good deal. The cheapest 2004s on cars.com/autotrader.com are in the $18k/$19k range (usually with 150000+ miles and located in lands of salted roads). The average for a LC in my year and mileage (108000) seem to be a lot higher. I bought it from a wealthy family and I think they just wanted to get rid of it quickly because of the cost of gas (go figure). They wanted to buy a $50,000+ hybrid Tahoe in the Land Cruiser's place...lame. The guy said he put the CL posting up at 10:00 pm and that night he received so many calls that he had to turn his phone off (This didn't allow for much bargaining on my part). I called in morning and was the only person from Austin to reply to post (most people wanted to drive from Dallas/Houston) so I got the cruiser!

I think it looks pretty sweet in Black. Like I said before I had been searching CL for months, there are deals to be had. Good luck to you on finding your Cruiser!
