What could be better than owning a '85 4runner? Owning two '85 4runners of course! I thought I'd to start a new thread for this build, to keep the projects separated. For those that are not familiar you can see/follow my other build "Mud-life Crisis". Builds - my MUD-life crisis, 85 4runner - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/my-mud-life-crisis-85-4runner.1226817/
I recently came to the conclusion that damaging my white SR5 is inevitable if I keep pushing it. It'd be foolish of me to turn it into a tin can. So here we are with a rig that I can wheel a little harder and not lose sleep over if it gets a little trail tash.
As many of us do, I was browsing FB Market place when I found this '85 DLX near me. The truck aready has a bunch of upgrades, that make it the perfect platform for harder adventures.
22re, AC, dual transfer cases (with one being 4.70) 5.29 gearing, unknown type rear locker, wider IFS rear axel, Chevy 63" rear springs, RUF, upgraded brakes (master cylinder, booster for sure) & cross over high steering. The work doesn't necessarily look like it was all professionally done, but it's not amateur or all butchered either. The interior is mostly there, the body is straight with a little bit of rust in the rear quarter panels. My plans are to go through it and make it my own with esthetics that mimic my white SR5.
If anybody has any information or knows who built it, please let me know. I bought it near San Antonio, but believe it's from Houston/Galveston area originally.
