Had an an initial prob the vaporizer being mounted on the bulkhead with a short pipe - resulting in thudding at low revvs but this has not been solved and I'm cruising along at half the price of the petrolheads :)

Cool, it's nice to have options. Your LPG tank hangs a little lower than I would have liked. Did they bother removing the spare tire bracket? Do you have a sub tank or charcoal canister that is in the way? Not sure if this LPG tank is the same size but it appears to be mounted higher.

It may just be the perspective the pics were taken looking at the relationship to the drop hitch. That is very cool. How is power output affected?

There's the thing tabraha ... we just don't notice any difference!

Now, it may be simply that the engine is just too huge but with a car full of kids and luggage - and while pulling an 1800kg trailer (caravan for us Brits) uphill, it can accellerate and overtake without effort just as before!

MPG appears to be about the same too - but I haven't been able to measure it really accurately yet.

Hoser - yea, I got down quite low (the driveway dips into the road) in order to take a similar picture to the previous. When I get a chance, I'll have a go at one of a similar angle to yours. Yes, he took out all the spare wheel mountings. There's really bags of clearance.

And for the big question.....what's the conversion cost?

There are loads of people over here in the UK who do lpg conversions nowadays. I could have chosen 5 in my locale in South Wales and this area is pretty provincial.

In the end, I went with a chap who was a recommendation from one of the LPG system importers/trainers locally. He is a great techie though customer skills have opportunity for development - but I went in with my eyes open on that one ;-)

Cost was 1500 ukp - which isn't that much really and as unleaded is 97p/L over here compared to lpg at 40p/L, it will pay for itself in under a year. And what's more, its better for the environment of course...

Hm, it's an interesting conversion for road use, but I wouldn't like to hit a rock with that gas tank.
BTW, did you notice they installed your driving wheel on the wrong side? ;-)

Yea, Dandon,

its intended more as a fuel efficient all purpose family vehicle than a rock crawler. But it can also handle most of the off-road terrain we have in these parts - no probs getting up to remote mountain streams for BBQs etc.

BTW, hoser, was the cruiser in that picture at "standard" height? I got AHC so am wondering what height to take the comparison picture on ...

yup, take that thing on one of our rocky trails and you'll get to the end of the trail fast, with a nice rocket-like roar and fireball trailing behind....

great job though!

The rest of the pictures are here. It looks like the blue 100 does have AHC but I doubt they would lower it to take a picture. Here is another 100 (Amazon version) with the same LPG conversion.

yea, looks like mine may be a tad lower but I can't get the angle quite the same. I need to ring that company and ask what size tank also (ie, is it a 120 litre).

I have just over 11 inches clearance at normal height from lowest part of tank to floor - a coupla more if I life the AHC

This is probably a stupid question...but what does LPG stand for? And what engine is that under your hood, cause it looks an awful lot like a ford HO...or Im dumb (I vote #2).

LPG = Liquid petrolium gas (what folk use on their BBQs)

The engine is the stock 4.7 litre v8 32 valve but without its hood on.

Ahhh propane, thanks for clearing that up!

Hey, I only use charcoal for BBQs. But I don't thing there is any charcoal conversion kit for the 100 :D

SamB - good question ...

Spare is currently in the garden being classed as a pet by the kids and named theyve named it Turby !? (maybe I should spend more at Christmas ...)

Anyway, I still haven't decided what I should do between:
  1. Mount the spare on the rear;
  2. Put some ultra-seal spray into all the tyres/tires;
  3. Just carry a can of the stuff around with me.
At the moment, I'm not doing any of the above :eek:

Thanks,
Sword

4. Mount the spare on the roof;
5. Mount the spare on the engine hood, LandRover-wise:
