It is either ground or 12V but I don't remember which one. I am going to guess it is ground since you got sparks. What is the reason for jumping Terminal D to the battery?
Whoops, I misread your initial instruction of going from F instead of D...

What kind of connector are people using for in the inline fuse? I normal spade connector is too big? Thanks in advanced

Use a test light whenever you are jumping a wire to make sure you don't short-circuit the system. If you hit the wrong polarity, the light will lit else, no.

Pardon my ignorance, but are there thinner spades to be able to fit in the fuse spot? I'm not an electrician by any means. Also, is there any problem in running a 12AWG in line fuse wire and 14 awg wires for the others? Or should they all be the same? Thanks much

theres a .187" spade but im not sure if that fits in that style fuse receptacle.

if it makes a good connection yes, but if once inserted and you wiggle the plastic part and find that it doesnt make a constant electrical connection, i wouldnt use it long term or while driving.

Made this setup, the spade connector fits snug in the fuse spot. Will this relay work for temporary use? I’ve got a Bosch one coming. Again, sorry for the seemingly stupid questions, yes I could have just bought the kit, but I am learning something by doing it myself😁

Your current set up may give you P1600 code. Start reading from post #70 if you get P1600 code.

I bought the kit from @medtro

- Fast and professional service.
- High quality product.
- Very well documented.
- Comes in a plastic bag for easy storage.

I plan to keep the kit in my center console as insurance for when I'm out wheeling in the middle of nowhere and the problem surfaces. It could save a very expensive tow truck charge. Mostly, I enjoy buying custom parts from our club members.

Nicely done @medtro!

Gents,

Sorry to bring this up again, but I am scratching my head as to what is going on. I made a bypass a couple weeks ago that worked flawlessly up until today after I filled up with gas. Before I was getting a click but no start. After remaking the bypass, at first I got a click and no start, then a rough start up after trying a few times. It looks like the relay is working fine. Thoughts? Just go to a new fuse box?

According to your post in my other thread, it didn't look like you need this kit.

Not sure why not, it won't start without the bypass... sure I don't have the crank and no start, but this is obviously EFI related...

And should I connect the fuse that's on the relay to the battery? Instead of the fuse box?

Because you don't have crank and no start. EFI related is more than just this relay.

And should I connect the fuse that's on the relay to the battery? Instead of the fuse box?

I am seeing more and more bad connection at fuse box terminal A as our vehicles get older. If terminal A is bad, then you will need to connect the fuse holder to battery.

I had this lovely problem this morning, except mine just clicked and didn't crank. Took the EFI relay out and it started cranking but wouldn't turn over. I cleaned the contacts on the relay, put it back it and it fired up with a little bit of gas pedal. Do I need this kit or will a new relay solve the issue?

I would focus on click and no crank first. Check battery health, battery connections and starter.

Have you addressed "clicked and didn't crank" and "fired up with a little bit of gas pedal" issues? I believe you are experiencing the same issues again. This relay kit doesn't fix these issues.

So, I totally understand this bypass idea and concept and love the cost savings, but if a guy wanted to get rid of the issue all together I am guessing the fuse box replacement woulda get rid of this problem completely, all be it at 400 bucks

I’m having this issue currently and this rig is for one of my kids who will be going off to college out of town and really can’t have this as a nagging issue in the future.

Am I correct?

What is the question?

Is the most complete fix to replace the entire fuse box?
