Unfortunate incident happened today. My wife had the GX out shopping and was hit by a distracted driver in a parking lot. Thankfully she is ok and feels fine so far. The truck hit directly on the rear swingout hinge of my Coastal off-road bumper. Upon inspection the hinge just has a few shiny spots, but I'm afraid the frame may have absorbed some of it. It looks like an HD truck so it got hit by a solid frame. Should I be having this inspected by a frame specialist or is it something I shouldn't be worried about?

In all seriousness the bumper probably saved your rig from real damage to the rear quarter panel. I also doubt it bent the frame but you could take it to a body shop to check it out if you are curious (find one that does frame work and can measure it). Also, since that HD truck has the OEM bumper, it's actually a crumple-zone spot that whacked you. Those rigs are all bulbous growths of plastic and sheetmetal on the front, which the true frame is buried behind.

Yeah that makes sense. I'm just overly cautious since it's the first time it's been hit. Thanks for the explanation!

I agree with RedNexus. I don't think you got hit by that truck's frame. Just a bunch of its plastics and squishy bits. Even if you did at that speed, I don't think you would have much to worry about. Looks like a few MPH
