I just put on some OME rear springs; torsion bars are torqued to 22.25 in the front and I'm now 25 in the rear. Future plans are a rear aftermarket bumper with tire carrier for a 275/70/18.

I'm figuring maybe an inch drop after additions in the rear? Not sure but that seems likely. Should I worry about cranking the TB anymore? I re-indexed so I have room. Or should I replace them with aftermarket first?

Feeling like I need about an inch rake in the front after all is said and done.....right?

Any advice from your own setups is appreciated.

keep the rake in front , your rear like all good things will sag with age.....:D

Let's plan an all Hundy Ride one weekend.

Didn't you just recently add OME 865 springs, w/ OEM shocks and torsion bars?

If you're at 25" in the rear, I suspect that you've either swapped springs again, or you have a ton of spacers in there (or you have a whole lot less weight in the rear than I do in my LX or my son's LC). What springs do you have in there?

If you are at 22.25 in front, and still on OEM UCAs and shocks, how much droop do you have left, and what kind of caster numbers do you have?

My opinion, from my experience:
I wouldn't go to aftermarket torsion bars unless you've added some weight up front. (They're "stiffer", not "taller")

If you're still running OEM shocks and UCAs, you're probably going to want to "back off" on the torsion bars, not crank on them more.

You're going to have to spend some more money (to get a tiny bit of additional droop) if you're your going to try to get to a 1" rake with that kind of height in the rear.

Your rear measurement seems a bit high?? I believe the truck is designed to have about an inch or so of take. Personally, i do not like the rake look and prefer ther truck level. I lost about an inch and half when I added a slee rear bumper with swing outs. I had 863's old man coils in the rear. I switched to slee heavy rear coils, this gave me back about 1/2", Wanting my "level" look back I then added slee 1" poly spacers. I am now back to level. I think I should have went with longer / stiffer 864 could in the rear, but I was just really happy with all the slee products I had been purchasing and chose to go that route. I think the 864's would have been cheaper and not required the spacers. I definitely wouldn't get after market TBs until you consider getting an after market front bumper.

ah... nice doc.... thanks! I did my TB's this weekend. When indexing the TB's i found there was a notch in them. No one has pointed this out in the posts i read. I just seated the TB's back into the notch. I got the PS to move one notch but the DS stayed the same. Luckily i had enough room to increase the height.

So my question is: How to you deal with this notch in the TB to be able to re index?

I swapped out the 865's for 863's.......I do have new OEM shocks installed along with stock TB's (not new).

Thanks for that link.....I'll check the droop but I think I'm good. I'll get an exact measurement though.

The 25 in the rear is minus of a bumper (removed) and minus rear seats. I guess the big X factor in all of this is my aftermarket rear bumper that I'm planning on getting. I got rid of my 865' but I suppose I could have added 1" spacers! 863 is definitely higher. I had my buddy who is 220lbs stand on the back bumper and it dropped about .75 of an inch. Add a rear tire carrier and I'll probably get down to a full inch, maybe even a quarter more. That would put me at 1.5 higher in the rear minus third row and people/gear.

So I'm thinking of leaving the 863's on and going ahead and purchasing a rear bumper. Then reassess. Thoughts?

Hmmm was planning to reindex this weekend and throw in some 1" spacers in the rear... Now I'm freaked out by @bucfl's comment, never heard anyone else mention that... I know I'm maxed out so if I can't reindex I'm not sure what to do.

I believe that notch is the same as the rest, it just appears wider since it is marked or painted. I was able to rotate my TB's 1 notch on both sides, I did need to paint a line to make sure I rotated 1 spline, because I think my first attempt ( I didn't clearly mark them) took me exactly back to the same splines......

If I remember correctly, the 863s are about 250lb/in.

Just as an example:
Slee - Toyota 100 Series Land Cruiser Rear Bumper
Slee Rear Bumper
Part: SOF1305
$2605.00
Bumper Weight - 158 lbs

Tire Carrier
Weight - 51 lbs

Accessory / Ladder Carrier
Weight - 42 lbs
158+51+42= 251 lbs

Which should drop the rear about an inch.

(We found that weight of the 3rd row seats helped the ride tremendously, on an otherwise unloaded vehicle. I'd throw the 3rd row seats back in, until you receive and install your bumper)

Thanks JLB, I'll throw them back in there.

So if I'm 1.5 higher in the rear after everything that should suffice?

For reference, my rig with OME 863s, a rear BIOR bumper and carrier with tire, sliders, no rear seats but with a big tool box:

22.75" hub center to fender.

I'm a bit of a naysayer about the "rake" thing, because the fix is always to bring the nose down and not the tail up. I will admit that we do have about a 1.5" rake on my son's LC (23/21.5) (along with aftermarket UCAs, longer shocks and diff drop). Mainly because I hate the tail down/nose up when we are fully loaded.

In our troubleshooting, we found ~21.5" in the front to be the "sweet spot" for us. I suspect that you're going to have some issues with the ride/handling/steering, with the front at 22.25" (without UCAs or longer front shocks), but maybe you'll have better luck than we did.

I can second this statement and must after installing the rear bumper and running with and without the rear seats in I decided to reinstall them until I am done with drawers because it makes the ride just right.

Steering wheel is a bit shaky at low speeds right now but that's it.

I'm going to work on getting the rear situated with a bumper etc and then reassess everything.
