I settled for 3k on the Nissan hit, but they ate it with fixing th Xterra in the shop. Estimate was lowballed at just under 3k (less than my settlement). The repairs were just over 10k, should have been totaled.

The radiator hose was not replaced, even at that ridiculous total.
 
It took long enough but I've got the long arm kit installed. the biggest hurdles were the small problems. Torsion bars have a boot at the frame end and my driver's side was missing. The torsion adjuster could not be removed so the stock springs had to go back in. I'm not going nuts just yet so no problem (must be cautious turning, wrong spring rates). The point where I was going to triangulate the shock hoop got scrapped at the last minute due to inadequate tool clearance. I cobbed together a bolt-in upper shock truss but ended up warping the truss when welding in the gussets (learning here :D). It will be rebuilt, real PITA to install or remove. Also I messed up on my plan for the reservoir mount, I have a temporary solution for now.

Otherwise it's like a different truck, silent and consistent. I can't feel a damn thing driving down the roads, paved or dirt :grinpimp:. New camera next payday, I am as sick of video stills as everyone else.

Still dragging my feet on fender replacement, the used ones are everywhere until you need them. The "fender flares" are landscaping dividers :D. It's ugly but I could not get out of first without the truck dripping in mud. My up travel is slightly limited so I don't gouge tires but the travel in there lets me get up some beast cinder hills. The cow catcher there is incomplete, going to redo the parts there for larger bumper mounts. An ORS Frame Brace went in first, the lower rectangle of tubes is .250 DOM and .125 DOM everywhere else.

Plenty left to do, when my tire's clear then fresh muds go in. Getting locked up with ARB's before winter (I hope). When glass is done it's getting trimmed to fit a snorkel. Aesthetically awkward with the desert theme but I NEED IT. The snorkel will go to an 80 series airbox. I like the centrifugal filtering with the reusable element. It's going to fit weather it wants to or not :D.

It's river season around here so I'm kinda distracted. In the very near future I'm finding a solution to carrying boat frames in the back (like a hoop for top loading). The bed will be covered with a canvas top so I don't load up with snow back there.

Oh yeah, if any of you SAS guys have a couple of anchor arms left over that didn't make it to the trash I could work out a deal. If they're missing the boot then it's probably seized to the torsion bar (like mine).

Well forgot there was a company barbecue this afternoon and my dumb ass won a Garmin nuvi 700 GPS/Nav thingy. Way overkill, I thought I was spoiled with the handheld goober (GPS) that works like a Game Boy. This new one has freakin language translating aids, even audible aids to pronounce correctly. I learned to order a couple of beers in German properly (I lived there five years and couldn't speak a damn thing).

Dad told me about some device they had in planes that always yelled at you when any little thing went weird, called it a bitching betty. I see exactly what he means, it's telling me speed limits by streets (I don't trust s*** besides my coordinates yet). Been awesome luck these last days, a new goober tops it off grandly

1: Caught a chocolate bar before completely melting in the ashtray (don't smoke, that's storage space there).

2: Going down the lower Colorado River next week, Thanksgiving too if possible.

3: Made out with the hottest girl of my days last 80's night ( 3 + times making out, progressively kruk). For implied hot references she is a stewardess. If my old roommate Darth Vader wasn't there I would have scored for sure (the "Darth Vader" of cock-blocking).

Last December when I sank this thing I got a nasty dose of rust on the flywheel/clutch surfaces. It was only a drivability issue for the most part, I knew premature wear was happening but got lost in suspension work. Finally last month the clutch had enough, a Centerforce Dual Friction will limp by a month with rivets :hillbilly:.

This clutch was installed by the PO, also brutally beaten before I got to drive it (not so nice myself). About 60k total abusive miles since installation with premature failure because I am lazy. I replaced it with another Dual Friction, flywheel and bearings. That was tire money but I can save more. Spring rates and fenders have been fixed for a while now. Next I need to get my tools locked in the back somewhere, the cab is noisy.

Slightly, it looks about 3 inches higher than when it was stock. Overall ground clearance and handling have been improved. Rides great through rough roads but a straight axle setup will still outflex me. The majority of my travel is still in the back so crawling characteristics haven't changed (aside from more travel to work with). However speed-wise it's capable of more than the driver can handle for now :steer:.
 
Been busy here...

I've burned up most of my money moving out of the ghetto, the rest went to parts. I've got Deaver Chevy springs installed with two leaf packs removed.

The welder was a game changer for me, more progress in three days than in the last year. The front's getting coils and a 5VZ as soon as the money is saved.
 
Looking very nice! Tell us more about the last set of pics and what was done. Fiberglass front end conversion, what headlights, etc?

I am moving the bump stop brackets up one inch, otherwise things are going great. I trimmed up the U bolts with my TC SUA plates. My SOA plates found their second life as my bump stop striker plates. It's a close fit for things at the LSPV.

Parking brake cable is busted, fixing soon.

The fiberglass was used, the price was right or I'd have kept it stock. Everything was trimmed but the louvers, first winter with it I had problems with ice build up. When it broke free it was like driving into a bunch of ice cubes.

Been a busy/lazy summer on the river, time to update truck nonsense.

Working on a transfer case leak right now, but I was working on more fun things.

I built new shock hoops to work with my coilovers. Unfortunately I have not been successful in cleaning the threads on my used 9100s. I got the threads clean enough to work them on the bench. However the damaged areas (shock PO welding close) chew up the adjusters when setting them up on the truck.

I've tubed up the front end, still need to fabricate wheel wells. The TC steering is going in next.

It is no easier to work under the hood, same junk diffrent package. The new shock placement allows more travel then I will realistically ever achieve even with all spherical bearing uber joints or whatever nonsense :D.
