I am really bad about updates, dang nearly a year.
For years I wanted to paint it flat black. My jump truck buddies have rangers, F-150's and one Raptor, they are all shades of black. So I changed my mind and made it flashy, HOK True Blue on Mcneil Racing Bedsides plus a few Toyota stickers. I got too many "nice ranger" comments when it was all white.
I need to buy the parts to shorten my coilovers to 10 inches of travel. I cleaned the threads enough on parts to use the adjusters, however they still need to be preloaded on the bench for setup. I cannot fit coil compressors on the coilovers installed, I think it is dangerous to preload the shock with the jack. I need to disconnect the lower control arm to install my current setup preloaded, not safe in my book. For now I've got the dual rates dialed out, the big coils do everything now. At 600 lb/in the truck rides rough.
Besides the lack of coilover adjustability it is running strong. I have way too much fun driving this thing.
I got new Toyota wiring pigtails for all Tundra lights. The wires are Toyota, lights are cheap Ebay stuff (DOT, just cheap). They work good but my headlight brackets are too stressful on the plastic tabs. I've cracked things and lost hardware, I want to get a junkyard Tundra core support and cut the formed headlight mounts out. Other than that I like it, it kinda looks like a Sector 9 Hilux (well a bluish one w/ stickers everywhere on 33's).
I have been all over the place, I want 5VZ, Lockers, ext.
I am not made of money, wish I was
. My current goals are more drivability oriented. The Landcruiser spoiled me, now I want to push buttons for everything (because that is the way it should be
).
The new fenders and wheel wells are awesome, I can see out the glass after a mud strike. Coilover work is my new priority.
