My 60 Hates Me

I have owned it for 4 months and basically it has been on jack stands in the garage. The latest task is trying to replace the leaking front main seal. Two different rattle guns at 100psi, PB blaster and the crank shaft pulley nut will nut budge? I guess I'll try the rent it shop tomorrow and see if they have one with more poop?

Mine was pretty darn stuck too ended up heating it with a propane torch around where the nut was for a while and sure enough popped right off. Worth a try at least, shouldn't get hot enough to do any damage, but with all that PB on there look out!

I did not notice a locking tab? The nut flarred out on the back side and appeard to be machined like that? I will go out and take a closer look.

Use the starter motor. If you put a piece of heavy wall tubing or a breaker bar through the twisty crank part of the nut and sucure the other side close to the frame rail then tap the starter and it will come right off.

hey, I understand your situation(It happened to me with a trooper that I used to own.) I was hopeless I had tried every conventional method of loostening a nut, but to no avail. Until, after staring at the damper for more than 15min I came up with the solution.

This is gunna be hard to explain. OK, I used rollcage tubing and a socket wrench with the appropiate socket for the damper nut.
First see to which direction the damper rotates when you start the engine(I think it goes clockwise? not shure) if it goes clockwise then place the wrench on the nut and use the tubing as leverege on the wrench the leverege part of the tubing has to go under the passenger side of the frame rail, now all you have to do is hold the wrench in the nut and the leverege tube under the left side of the passenger frame rail while a friend starts the engine. This way you are using the power of the starter to loosten the damper nut.
