Purchased last summer. Mods include window tint, a 2.5" Dobinsons Twin Tube Lift (installed by Main Line Overland, nice job), and Cooper AT3 XLT 265 70 R18s. I don't aim to do much more--can't ditch the step 'cause older family members need it. But I hope to use it for some remote camping late this spring and summer and to post pics. Thanks for all the advice from the forum!

The step can be replaced with wide rock sliders. Not only will you have the step, but you'll have trail protection and other jack points if necessary.
You may also want to invest in skid plates. Even mild trails after a heavy storm can have ruts and craigs that you can accidentally drop a wheel in and hit your trans, fuel tank, oil pan, etc. Just good protection. Also carry along some recovery gear, maybe not for yourself for for some other poor soul that didn't have the presence of mind to avoid a trail.

^What he said. Your lift will mitigate a lot of the GX issues with ground clearance and smacking bodywork into the dirt but it doesn't take much to mess up those sides steps. Assuming its in good shape, the factory front skid is fine for light trails, but I would suggest at least adding a fuel tank skid as it's cheap insurance.
Most of the trails in the Mid Atlantic are old forestry service roads but those can vary pretty wildly from prepared gravel to rock steps and everything in between.

Yeah I was measuring, and the front bumper and sidesteps are at 15", the front stock skid is at 12", and the rear differential is at 10". I'm figuring the height at the sidesteps is deceptive because it's across such a long span...sidesteps and a fuel tank skid sound like a good phase 2.
