My 2013 LC 200 has created a humming noise when I hit about 40 mph! (1 Viewer)

My 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser has just started creating a home like my tires are out of line or unbalanced! I’ve had them balanced and rotated, is there any chance it’s an alignment! Any other suggestions like earrings?

What tires ya running?

Some tires get fairly loud as they wear

BF Goodrich’s, this is my second set! Did not have this problem with the first set!

If they’re KO2s, I’ll bet Tacos that’s the issue

Is the noise coming form a specific tire / corner of the rig? If so, could be wheel bearings.

@WoolCruiser define “just started.” Like all of a sudden? Come on over a day? Week? Maybe been there for three months now that you think about it?

Also for the record: When I had a rear bearing letting go it was impossible to determine location by sound, even using a mechanics stethoscope with the rig on jack stands and the wheels all turning. Same thing changing directions.

The bad spot was only a couple ball bearings wide on the upper edge of one inboard rear race, so when weight wasn’t on the axle there wasn’t anything pushing against that spot.

Chassis ears were the one thing that let me track it down.

Have you installed anything new on the roof lately?

In addition to the wheel bearings, check all the driveshaft u-joints for play. If no play, at least grease them all if you haven't recently.

wild guess, check your front differential fluid if it hasn't been changed for a while. I felt at difference when I put new fluid in front differential. It didn't have a hum but my foot on the accelerator was feeling a mild vibration when accelerating and it didn't after fluid change.

Since it’s FREE, also try rotating tires and see if it makes a difference

I’m still betting it’s tires

Nope! Humming noise is definitely coming from front tires. Or I should say front tire area I think it just may be these BFG’s Maybe a new rubber They’re using? I think I’m gonna check the alignment. Make sure that’s not it.

Yes!

The KO2s and the Toyo ATs both have the same inconsistency issues.
