How woudl go about putting a Multiport injection system on a 2f. Don't ask me why. Im jsut curious if there is any kits out there for the 2f

or....

can you swap a 3fe head on a 1977 2f for muitliport injection..

i did a search and nothing this specific came up. Might as well be the first. I know there is a guy opn here who did a totally custom setup on his 2f but im looking to see if there is any kti or swappable parts to make this easier today.

i wouldn't go multiport if you are looking for something easy. there are no kits available. you could always bung the intake yourself or fab up a completely custom intake with fuel rail. but i wouldn't call it easy.

thanx i heard of doing it on later model 2f engines but what about my 77?

i heard the 3fe head wouldn't fit?

would it run more efficiantly than throttle body or would it even make a difference. I want something eventually when i have the money that will

cold start really easy
immidiate drivability
automatic altitude adjustment and jsut about the same response as todays injection setups.

Unless you really know what you're doing as far as setting up an injection system you will not see much improvement with multiport over tbi.

The only thing a good carb can't do that you want is automatic altitude adjustment.

IMO unless you're into fuel injection so you can run on extreme angles or install forced induction, you're wasting your time compared to ordering up a carb from Jim C or Mark Algazy.

If you really want to do this on your own- you need to start reading basic explanations and get an idea of how to go about designing your own setup.

Although there are only two multiports that I know of, I'm sure there's more. Both custom and one a turbo.

For my project I decided to try multi port injection. I based this decision on the theory that MPI could solve the uneven fuel distribution problems associated with a single point fuel distribution system. Besides this single possible benefit, there is really no reason to choose MPI over TBI. Other than the B.S. factor of course. That and it *would* make it a little easier to plumb a turbo in if one were to make that sort of modification in the future ;) What I can tell you for sure is that fabricating a MPI fuel system is not easy! Just think about this: the modification of the stock manifold for MPI involves milling operations, fabrication of a throttle body adapter, fabrication of injector bosses on a lathe, fabrication of a drill jig, drilling operations, and welding operations while no modifications are required with TBI, only the installation of a TB adapter. Also, remember that with TBI almost all of your fuel system components are contained within the TBI unit itself. Not so with MPI; you have to piece together the entire system from injectors to fuel pump.

it's basically bragging rights, very impressive when you lift your own hood and can say you've done it.

Yep, a TBI is much easier and a hell of a lot less headache..

yea but where's the fun in that???:confused:

Coming from the guy that does not even run an air cleaner???

:flipoff2:

so how efficient is the tbi setup?

It's irrevelant when it's going on an F/2F.

A little more efficient than a good carb, IF you get it tuned correctly, and not much less if any than MPI.

from all the research i've done on the matter, it seems everyone's who's done the tbi setup has not seen a huge difference in fuel efficiency. at the end of the day you're still driving a vehicle that has the aerodynamics of a cinderblock with an engine that was made during the days when fuel efficiency didn't matter. don't let it stop you though, there are other benefits to gain.

I'd look to the MPFI system Mopar makes for their I6 for insperation

do you have any links or anything? this is interesting although and i know your going to bash me for this...i don't like Dodge products.. eh

Search google for FI conversions for Jeeps and read away....

I have contacted a site that has been around for at least 4 years who specialize in TBI. He can custom build TPI if he gets at least 5 request for 2300 each. I have been pricing TBI since it is a bit cheaper. I do not have all the info yet but has anyone purchased or heard of http://www.customefis.com/? He seems quite knowledgeable on FI and stated he has done many cruisers. HE custom curves the Electronics and also replaces the chip so you can curve it yourself. Price for all the goodies including modifying my DIU HEI to work with his system is $1,900. I have the whole package in my rig at this time. Webber 38/38, ceramic coated headers which I also heat wrapped (talk about lowering the heat under the hood) 2.5 inch high flow exhaust. I also picked up a high performance 2f with RV cam and MAF pistons. 1,000 miles on it. I want to get the most out of this engine. For those who wanted to know about the DUI hei I put on the brake and can slow it down below 300 rpm and it still chugs along. I want to get rid of flooding when on hill and off camber. NO matter what they say the 38/38 is still a carb. Any comments would be appreciated on this site.
