Thanks for all those who responed with my first questions about the exhaust. I think I am going to go with an aftermarket exhaust which leads me to my next question. What type of mufller should I get? I was thinking about a magnaflow or flowmaster but have not yet made up my mind. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help!

Flowmaster 40 series. Sounds amazing.

Agreed. Go with the 50 series if you want it a little quieter than the 40 though.

Or From The Hearing Impaired

For dead silent go with a late-model muffler out of a Cadilac ElDorado. I just got my whole system done by a custom shop that a buddy owns and I wanted as quiet as possible with good flow (an oxymoron at best), but she seems to pull better and is so quiet that I can really hear the hum of the mud terrains.

PS Why quiet? I like the sound of a good motor as well, but I've noticed of late that I say 'Huh' way too often and I work with a bunch of 50 yo that don't know if you are in the room unless you hit them. So quiet is becoming a good thing.

Which 50

Thanks for all of you who have responded. I want a muffler that is quite but when you "punch" it it will make some noise so the 50 is sounding like a good fit. I was looking on Flowmasters website and there are three different models. Should I go with the 50 series SUV or just the regular 50? Thanks for your help!

straight shot

I just re-did my exhaust:

2.25 down pipes leading to y-pipe to 2.5 pipe to cat and 2.5 pipe to a 20inch Magnaflow straight stainless bullet style muffler straight out the back with a slight downward bend at the end.

Sound is not silent but a deep rumble and you can have a conversation behind the truck at idle and low rpms but when you punch it it gives a DEEP gutteral rumble and at high rpms is medium loud.

I ran it without a muffler for a few months and it was too loud. My ears would ring after pulling steep inclines and starting her was like creating a freakin shock wave.

Magnaflow makes a quality product, check them out.

I put a single delta flow 50 w/3" pipe under my FJ60. It gives of a nice low rumble until you step into it. I'm runnig a SBC so I'm not sure what kind of result you will have?

Assuming 2F don't run a 3" pipe. You don't have that big of volume of exhaust to push through. Its probably overkill for my application. Anyway the size and length of the tail pipe will also change the sound of the muffler.
