Trying to complete the exhaust on my turbo'd 3FE. I have a 2.5 back to the transfer case and need a muffler. Any suggestions for a mellow sound to replace the 8.5" round stock system. Most mufflers are around 10" across which would appear to be too big to fit without hanging them lower than I'm willing. The Bullet mufflers (glass pack style) are typically a bit louder than I'm looking for so..... any suggestions?

I doubt I can pick up a muffler from a Colorado for a reasonable price. Never been a fan of the flowmasters either. I haven't seen too many flowmasters that would fit either.

I put on an off the shelf Borla, it has a nice mellow tone. In the past I have used Flowmasters and magnaflow, the Borla is much quieter than both and seems peppier. It tucks nicely within the frame and is out of the way.

ON a turbo you want a stragith thru design. I believe all the Flowmasters are a baffled design which you want to avoid.

Magnaflow, Dynomax, Borla, and others make a good flowing straight thru muffler.

I have a magnaflow on mine. Series 50 or 55...but don't hold me to that...I don't recall which one.

Magnaflow looks like the way to go for sizing. They have a 4" round version in varying lengths up to 24" long bodies and a 5 X 8 oval in a 14" body. Around $65 from Summit.

I got 50 series flowmaster's on both the 80 and the 100. Tried a 40 series with the 100 and realized after about 3 weeks that I really did need to hear my wife talking beside me, and I missed the stereo a lot, so that's when I got the 50 series with the low resonance junk. Nice.
