Muffler drone... anyone running the Dynomax VT?

I run the Dynomax mufflers in my 1967 mustang (see signature) I love the sound, not too loud, great tone. Like you - I not in high school and wanted a nice sound with out too much noise and drone. -Mark

So I am loving my truck with its 5.3 vortec but I am not exactly in high school anymore and the v-8 muffler drone on the highway is getting pretty annoying.

I am a little behind the times regarding advancements in exhaust and such however I found a pretty sweet muffler system made by Dynomax that has a dual chamber muffler. Looks like it opens up a valve under heavy acceleration from normal pressures and gives you a performance sound, and during light loads cruising closes the spring loaded valve and routes it to a baffled, quieter side.

Pretty cool if you ask me. The youtube videos suggest it works quite well with people using real worls tests with radio shack db meters.

So I will be installing one of these next week but wanted to see if any of you have used one on any of your vehicles, cruiser or even Hondas.

Thanks for that input.

I was watching some more youtube vids of guys with that setup...including mustangs and it is pretty dramatic difference between a standard flow through vs the Dynomax.

Here are the links to the stuff I picked up on the internets.

Fatmat 80 mil: 50^ FatMat Sound Deadener Noise Killer

Fatmat floor stuff: FatMat Sound Control Xtreme Floor Liner

Second skin mass loaded vinyl (much like the fatmat, sorta trying the two to see which I like better) Luxury Liner - Acoustic Noise Barrier and Insulation Barrier

And lots of cheap closed cell foam to serve as sort of a anechoic absorber for the door panels and rear quarters after the dampner...mass loaded vinyl...then the foam...

Amazon.com: Sonic Barrier 1/2 Acoustic Foam w/PSA 18 x 24: Electronics

And some even thicker stuff that has backing material to stick.

Will I have room for all of this **** in my doors and floor? Most likely not! haha but it will be fun to experiment with.

In the end...anything is better than nothing right?

ps: off topic but I went to visit Luke up at 4x4 Labs in Grass Valley today and picked up this little number.

The venerable 4X4 Labs bumper with ladder and gas carrier :)

Will do! My rear quarters are chopped so I will need to modify it so it fits up a bit higher and I am not sure how to go about that yet.

My little garage shop is up in Wasilla and I am down here in Dixon CA so I am having a shop in Vacaville (RAAW FAB) install the bumper and some trail mart sliders I picked up a few months ago. It is agony being away from my welder and all of my tools. Agony! But man the weather has been amazing down here!
