Hey 406'ers,

I bought a correct color hood for my '99 100 Series from 3 puppies.
Mine was hail assailed to the tune of 15 or 20 dents and the clear
is toast so I'm psyched that Paul had one for sale in infinitely
better condition.

In the event that any of you guys are close to or in Helena and
are headed down south for the holidays or a ski trip...

I'll buy the first $100 in gas to anyone willing to give it a ride to
either Denver or the Durango area. (southern western slope)

Edit: For those reading for the first time, Grand Junction as a destination
is also an option.

Edit #2: The hood is now in Bozeman, MT so any potential assistance
could begin there.

Edit #3: Okay, 406'ers, the hood is now in SLC, UT at @bryson 's place
Thanks a ton @REZARF - So the trip is about half over.

Cheers
-Trap

Guys I am headed to Pauls before too long.

I could get it to Bozeman if anyone is heading down sometime soon.

Trap- I was there last month but no plans for the near future.

Thanks for chiming in! I appreciate the offer to take care of a leg.

Thanksgiving week, specifically Monday or Tuesday (25th or 26th) I am headed from Billings to the Grand Junction area. Plenty of room as I'm taking a pickup truck down.

@REZARF depending on weather in Wyoming I may route my trip around through Bozeman down through Utah that direction. If not I can see if I have a friend going through from Billings to there.

That's very generous of you! I think I may have a place for it to chill in GJ...let's see if other pieces fall into place.

So it looks like, tentatively and assuming dates work out...

Drew could get it from Helena to Bozeman
87BJ74 could get it from Billings to GJ

And that it needs to potentially get from Bozeman to Billings
or that it could potentially couch surf at Drew's if 87BJ74
finds that his route Nov. 25/26 takes him through Bozeman.

Have I got that right?

I've got a message out to plaidwagon (Kyle) in GJ to see if
it could stay there while I figure out getting up to GJ from
Durango.

Oh, and I can also add that anyone who helps can obviously get gas money but ALSO
I'm a graphic designer so I would be willing to trade out hours of design if someone is
in need of a business card layout or a logo design, etc.

worst case, I can get it to Bozeman or Butte if needed, if Drew doesn't make it this way in the time frame needed.

Thanks for that, Paul.

At this point we're looking a 8days until 87BJ74 is heading from Billings to GJ
and we're not sure what route he's taking. (Plan B goes through Bozeman)

Gentlemen, I'm not quite sure how to effectively coordinate for this as I don't
want to speak as proxy for any particular person or commit someone to something
they haven't or don't want to sign on for...

Let's just keep examining potentials throughout this week that lead to getting
it into 87BJ74's hands on the weekend prior to Mon.Tues. 25th/26th

And obviously, no pressure @87BJ74 , if you find out with more certainty which route
you're taking, please post that in here. And if more gas$ or design work would
"incentivize" one route over another... ;)

@REZARF - Any updates on when you might be making it up to Paul's?
@87BJ74 - Any news on your route choice for the trip south?
@plaidwagon - has agreed to store in GJ if it gets there.

Not applying pressure, just trying to identify any progress towards or against this version of a plan

Drew, Rezarf, had said he may be coming to my place this weekend, as he is after some other parts he needs, so that would get the hood to Bozeman

Heading to Pauls this weekend. Hopefully Saturday. Can get it to bozeman.

Thanks for chiming in Drew ( @REZARF ). Obviously this transport to GJ is still reliant on @87BJ74 favoring the route that travels west through Bozeman prior to heading south through Utah rather than heading directly south through Wyoming. So the question then becomes should you get it to Bozeman if the train isn't coming through that town? I don't want it to be your responsibility longer term if that's what it equates to and you don't want that. But we have some time before you're posed with the decision to load it up or not. Let's see what transpires and go from there. I appreciate your willingness to help out!

Honestly, if weather is the determining factor, I don't see anything other than partly cloudy vs. partly sunny in the 10 day forecast for Montana. It's only a good plan if it doesn't expect someone to do something other than they were already planning on.

@REZARF

So, we kind of have a back-up plan forming...From what Matt Farr tells me, you're family friends with him and his son Charlie. Charlie is flying down to Denver for Thanksgiving, but might be driving down for Christmas. So, in the event that 87BJ74 isn't coming through town, the hood could potentially get a ride to Denver with Charlie over Christmas break. Matt told me they would probably be discussing those logistics over Turkey Day.

My concern is that I don't want the hood couch surfing at your place if that would be problematic in any way for you. Especially given that no guaranteed plan for its departure exists yet.

If it ISN'T an issue, then it seems like it would be a good idea to at least get it to your place (might not even need to happen this weekend), but I leave that up to you and your comfort levels. We do not yet know whether 87BJ74 is in or out but I'm guessing out.

Yes I know Charlie, he’s a great guy.

I’m heading up today. I’ll PM you my number

Update:

Drew @REZARF is picking the hood up from Paul in Helena and bringing it to his place in Bozeman
so Thank you SO much, Drew for taking on the first leg of this hood's journey and for giving it
somewhere to live for a spell!

If it goes to GJ it's got a spot to land for a while
and if it goes to Denver it has a place to be for a while.

So good stuff, I'm so grateful for the Mud community and the Rock Stars it contains!

With the weather thats gonna head through I am headed direct south from billings tomorrow. If the hood is still around past December i would be headed back down in early march and can take it then!

Thank you, Sir! (@87BJ74 )

I assumed that was the case. We have a potential plan for Christmas Break but it's nice to have a Plan C waiting in the wings.

Appreciate it!
