Hi all,

I've thinking about ways of improving the overall driveability of my 78 FJ40. Longterm this truck will be a daily driver and adventure rig. I've been looking into both engine conversions, and more recently EFI, and I stumbled across this writeup where an Atomic system was installed on a Jeep straight six (yes, i know they're the devil):

Does anyone have any real-world experience with the Atomic system? (probably on V8s)

Obviously an adaptor to fit the different mounting patterns would need to be made, but the rest of it looks pretty straightforward.

Anyone have any comments/advise etc?

Looks like a nice all in one type EFI.
Several manufacturers offer them (Edelbrock, Holley, etc).
They typically aren't inexpensive. The Atomic is $2300-2500
The Holley Terminator is about $2100
Fast -1700-2700

Offenhauser used to make a 4 barrel intake manifold for the F and 2F motor. I think that one of those sytems with the 4 barrel type throttle bodies would be sweet with the offy intake.

For my 2F, I'd probably just get a retrofit GM setup offered by Affordable Fuel Injection or Howell.

I've seen the Offenhauser manifolds too, they'd be ideal. Seems they're pretty thin on the ground these days though?

I've done a bit of investigation on the Atomic setup and it seems to get pretty good reviews on V8 installs.

Alot of stuff for these old trucks is evaporating, unfortunately.

The more I think about it the more I want to do it! Anyone have any real-world experience?
