MPG on FJ (91-92)?

Is 10-12 mpg on a 92 reasonable? Recently had sludge problem in front axle, do you think anything else would be wrong?

I have one with 4.88s and 33 inch swampers. I get just over 10mpg.

4.88s are bit steep for 33s. That probably isn't helping you much in the mileage dept. But I bet it helps in off line acceleration. When did you get an 80?

That mileage is pretty normal. I got 10-11 running 35s with stock gears. With the stock 31s. it would run 11-13. Once in awhile it would pop up to 14 if I was doing slow highway driving.

howdy, my 91 I get about 10-12 city(mostly 10), freeway 14-17 (17 was from ventura to yosemite included going DOWN the grapevie grade loaded with camping gear and 4 people & a/c on 60-70 mph). I am completly stock w/ 31.10 bfg at's.
