Been trying to diagnose some , what I feel is bad mpg on my 09 lx. I found there Is a secondary air filter which looked absolutely awful. I "accidently " slipped with my screw driver and pried it out. I did a set of plugs, they didn't look too bad.

The plugs look fine. So does the filter. It’s supposed to look like that. It’s a charcoal electrostatic thing (or something like that) and it doesn’t start out white. It’s supposed to be permanent and is part of the housing cover so it’s not available separately. Look elsewhere for maintenance mpgs. O2 sensors? PCV valve? Tires ok? Right foot getting heavier?

That secondary air filter may actually help mileage and power by smoothing the airflow before it gets to the MAF.
