Hey all - A weird question for the group... I am a 1991 FJ80 owner and received government orders to move the UK some time this year. Sadly, I am probably going to have to sell my FJ80 (for sale post coming soon PM for details). I'd like to continue this hobby in the UK because I am now hooked thanks to you all! I am hoping to purchase another one in the UK and eventually ship it back with me when I move back to the States. So I am looking for something rare and not available in the US. I am a fan of the 80 series but not opposed to branching out to other variants. What do you think I should look for in the UK? Any UK-based mudders on here?

Thanks in advance.

Good luck. I lived in the UK for 7 years and I don't ever recall seeing an 80 or anything older while I was there. I drove a new 100 series for the last 4 years we were there (~2006-2010). In the UK it was called the Amazon and the Prado size LC was called the "Land Cruiser".

I know they are there but I wasn't really looking for a RHD LC at the time so maybe I just wasn't paying that much attention. Defender 90s and 110s on the other hand are extremely common. Sacrilege I suppose to say it on this site but if I was looking for something unique to the UK to bring home it would be a 110.

Thanks. That's good advice. I haven't seen a lot of land cruiser availability in the UK, but the number of defends available is large. I might have to go that route (don't shoot me) once I get over there. My other concern is that the local market might not support the land cruiser platforms and the number of techs familiar with them may be limited.

Buy a Defender while you're there. 80s are harder to come by. If it were me, I'd buy a LHD from the continent (Spain/Netherlands, etc.) and then ship it back after using it in the UK.
