moving to AK and putting the cruiser on a uhaul car hauler

Hey everyone. My wife and I are moving to Girdwood, AK and doing the uhaul thing. I know, I know, but the pros want around 10 g's and I can do it for 5. That equals a new snowmobile. I am renting one of their 26 foot trucks and planning on pulling her 100 series on a car hauler. It's got 33's on it and I know the tie down straps wont fit. But my question is, will it fit on the hauler, and will I die? I've seen the horrible wreck involving another forum member and I have seen a lifted 80 series behind an 18 foot uhaul. But it is a long way to go. I sure hope uhaul doesn't stick me with some POS truck that breaks down halfway to Whitehorse. Penske doesn't rent to AK so I'm SOL there. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated (not just vehicle related either).

I don't think the U-haul trailers are rated for the weight of a SUV.

prepare to bend over at the pumps in Canukistan. Gas is 138-139 canadian a liter in british columbia about $5.35 u.s a gallon and be prepared to burn through some serious fuel on the way up. Also if you do break down its a LONG way between towns and Uhaul repair facilities. Also watch out for the little red flags along the highway, they warn you about messed up sections of road. U-hauls web site shows that your set up will work.

Why not rent or buy a trailer and drive the cruiser?
you would save some considerable $$$.
Trailers generally are paid by the day not the mile.
You could potentially buy the wife a sled too and get yourself a nice enclosed trailer for yours with the savings.

Uhaul it to Seattle, then take the car ferry from Seattle to AK. Cheaper and less chance of roadside carnage than driving. My buddy did the drive from Seattle to Anchorage last year and had 4 flat tires and a cracked windshield. With a crappy Uhaul truck/trailer, something will probably go wrong. The ferry is nice too, very comfortable and scenic.
