What have you used to move the tub from on it's belly to back or vise versa? Looks like it will be a 1 person move once I get it back from thew blasting shop next week and just bought my supplies to paint it. I wanted to ask those that have painted theirs what worked for them for moving it for doing the underneath?

If this belongs in a different section, please move it.

I thought about placing it on the rear end and shooting the underneath then moving it once it has cured to it regular position, shoot the tub and high build.

are you going to undercoat it??? if so just put it up on blocks no need to paint the underside. as far as moving it around i just brothered the neighbors.

I don't think I would leave bare metal with nothing but undercoat on it. At least put some kind of primer on it. Optional would be a Rust Bullet or POR-15 top coat. Then undercoat it.

The tub can easily be moved by two people. If you have an engine hoist you can use it to lift one end of the tub to spray the underside then just place it on a couple of saw horses to paint the rest.

You can get fancy and build a rotisserie or just a wooden frame with wheels to sit the body on and roll it around the shop.

Mine hangs from the basment ceiling on wire ropes and pulleys.

I am using Omni epoxy primer, filling in with seam seal, epoxy primer, SEM rust inhibitor black paint to shoot the tub inside and underneath. Plan on applying durabak's black underneath and in the tub.

I moved the tub with a friend into the trailer yesterday and it was not as hard as I thought it might be.

I have a wooden box on wheels I used for the mustang that I was planning on using for it. I had thought about using a hoist but I can't remember if the guy that I'm using his booth has one or not. Neighbor's are some 5 acres away...

i just primer the inside and underneath it does not have to be perfect if you are undercoating it. i did not waste paint just to cover it up with undercoating. what little bit that wont get primer i would not worry about. it wont rust with the undercoat

Search the poor mans rotisserie. I love it and it's definately a 1 man job to move it around.

it wont rust with the undercoat

I gotta call BS on this comment. Just about every Cruiser I've owned or worked on has had rust under the undercoating. Even modern cars with undercoating get rust between the undercoat and metal. By the time you find out there's nothing but body-shaped undercoating left and it's a PITA to fix with the goop on the surrounding metal. I'd stop at a Rustbullet or POR 15 topcoat of some sort. That way when rust develops you can see it and treat it before welding is required.

YRMV of course!
