Hello everyone,
I posted this in the 60's section as well so here goes again.
My wife and I are moving from Seattle Washington to Atlanta Georgia and I need to ship my fj60 some how. We cant tow 2 vehicles behing the moving truck and we can't drive one and tow the other. Anyone know of a cheaper way to ship a vehicle from washingotn to Georgia? All the shipping quotes I've gotten have been for at least $1000. Any thoughts, advice or suggestions?Thanks,

Only downside of getting the hookup from someone on here or elsewhere and having a company do it for you is that the companies are or at least should be insured. If you figured up gas alone it would prob cost that to get it that far. Maybe you could make up some of that $ by doing some MUDSHIP on your own. Easier said than done, esp when the fam is in tow.

When you get to Atl be sure to check in with some local cruiser heads. Our Upstate Cruisers group is growing and we have a fair # of members in Atl.

Why can't she drive the 60 and you drive the moving truck? Well maybe she is like my wife and doesn't like "old" things. You could get a pair of radios and chat all the way there.

That cost sounds about right. I think that is an odd route, so it will be little higher. There are more cars going from/to the NE than the south so you pay more to ship there as a driver might have to go hours out of the way to make the drop.

I googled that and its over 2500 miles, if you can get it shiped for $1000 that is a steal, and get it in writing and do it. heck it would cost over $700 just to drive it,

x3 on a grand is what it'd cost to drive it, even if you weren't moving and could sleep inside it.

Anyone know about putting the 60 in the back of a penske moving truck and towing the other vehicle behind the moving truck? Anyone ever done this?

Never done it, but I don't see why not if it'll fit.

i was at TTC a few years ago and one of the competitors put his way built scrambler in the back of a moving truck and brought it all the way out to hollister CA from NJ that way.


just don't get busted for doing it.

if it were me, i'd pay the $1k to have it moved............

Hey there,
I've got an idea. I am going to pick up a truck in Surrey, BC and need to get it back to Asheville, NC (about 3 hours from ATL). Here is my dilema, my truck needs to be towed, and shipping and rental truck fees are steep.

Does your 60 have a hitch on it? If so, I would volunteer to rent an auto transporter and drive your 60 pulling my pickup from Seattle to NC and than drive your 60 to ATL? WE could split costs and it would be cheaper for both of us?

What do you think?

I'm heading to BC about October 12.

i rented a 26' u-haul & trailer for a move and towed my 42'. hard to say how much more fuel the moving truck would use, but it was economical for me.
one suggestion
don't do it in the northern rockies in january.lol
