Less than 15 spots left of 120 in less than 24 hours. Better sign up quick if you are on the fence about going.

Druck posted on FB that the Jenks lake fire is about 50 acres right now.

Damn - 24 hours and it's full with 5 already on the wait list! Gotta be a new record!!!

Was thinking the same thing.

You coming to SoCal any time soon?
Not SoCal, but I am driving my 80 to Moab and then joining a group led by Kurt to take three days to get up to Tooele,UT for CruiserFest. I am then leaving my 80 in Vegas for an undefined amount of time. Hopefully I will get out to CA at some point while the 80 is out West.

Thread hijack (since most of you are the people I talk to anyway):

Drove out to Tucson for a long 4th of July Weekend. So I performed an MPG experiment. I drove 58 mph the entire way from LA to Tucson. Cruise control. Cars passing, big rigs passing, guys with rickshaws passing me, a couple hikers walking backwards on the freeway laughed as they went by me.......

When my odometer said 240 miles and fuel gauge read 1/2 full, I was thinking the experiment worked. And I was thinking my Cruiser was stock and new again.....

When I filled up, the result was 18.3 mpg. And for those of you that don't know my truck: it's got a lot of heavy toys. 2nd tank: same thing.

I think I'll drive at freeway speeds on the way back, but FWIW: I've been consistently over 16 mpg on my last several trips, staying light on what Brent calls the skinny pedal.......so I was curious what would happen at 55 mph - I was pretty amazed.

...and how many times were you flipped off once you hit AZ and the 75mph speed limit...the one where if you aren't doing 85, you're getting run over? :flipoff2::lol::flipoff2:

The one time I drove the truck over to Scottsdale, I DID NOT keep track of my mpg. It'd have been too painful. All I know is I filled up in Quartzite on the AZ side and that's about 250 miles from home. Idiot light hadn't come on yet so I know I had more than 5 gallons left. That's still no better than perhaps 13mpg. I was, of course doing at least 70-75 thru CA and that INTI rack is just a fuel killer, in addition to all the weight of bumpers, sliders, winch, fridge, drawer, etc. etc. etc. etc...

It takes a lot of discipline to drive 55. I tried it on the Utah trip and ended up doing 60-65. Even that was painful.

Phil, I think even the wait list is full. However there's lots of dispersed camping in the area and you should come anyways.

Phil - yes, the wait list is full. I sent you a PM back on June 17 when registration opened. ;)o_O:flipoff2:

Just in case any of you haven't seen the announcement over on AAV - NO CHARCOAL this year due to fire restrictions. Propane cooking and fire pits ONLY this year.

I guess dutch oven contest is still on. You'll just have to adjust your recipe to cook it over a propane flame instead. TemboTusk has offered up an alternative cooking method for you to 'borrow' (hmmm...Skottle perhaps so he can sell you one ;) ). Those things are pretty cool.

so who's in?
I'm on the list, but I have to fight off some honey-do's first.

socal MRV.webp

eh hem...

:( What, no wineries on the way?
