I am about to start a 3B swap into an FJ and was wondering after I cut the motor mounts off where is the best place to measure from to get the correct placement to reweld the mounts on?

I was thinking the front end of the frame but don't want to get them welded on and be wrong.

Thanks for the info.

What FJ is the 3B going into? FJ40, 55, 60, Cruiser???

If it were a '60 I'd see if you can mount the tranny on the original support and then go from there for the engine mounts.

That's how I positioned the engine in the '55 and the '45. Line up the tranny and then double check the body and axle clearances. I figured that Toyota probably made the tranny and bellhousing in such a way that any engine could be mounted in any body and so far that guess has worked out!

It is going into a FJ60.

I was also wondering if the tranny from the new 60 with the 2F will bolt up to the 3B or will I need to change the output shaft?

Thanks for the advice

i Have this sitting behind my shop...its whats left of a 1983 BJ 60 ...as you can see i have the engine out now..it is also 4 spd..if you need some measurement's or other parts to complete your transplant..let me know

****i also do have the complete wiring harness, as well as most of the other parts that are specific to the 3B installation, when converting an FJ60 to a BJ60****

The tranny input shaft MUST be changed or you may be able to find an H55 from a Canadian BJ60.

Thanks to everyone that responded to my questions, the information and offers have been very helpful.

We'll see what happens here pretty soon. I'm sure i'll have many more questions.

Ocd, I have the old 3B mounts off my BJ60. They are ripped but would be fine for a fitting session. I can donate them if you pay shipping. I also have compared the 1984 Series' frame specs to the 1984-1990 specs and it turns out that FJ 62, BJ, HJ60 Series have the same specs, it does not say the FJ60. You can find this in the original Chassis repair manual, page BO122.

Cheers, Edgard.
