Hi !

We have a roof tent on our LC200 and I lock the car when we sleep on top.
Sometimes the car alarm fire up when we move in the tent (mainly rolling motion, :)) and I don't know how to switch off this feature (the only way I have found is not to lock the car when we sleep, that's not very safe).
Also our children sleep in the car and even if there is a switch to disable interior detection, we forgot sometimes to press it and the alarm fire up.

Is there a way to completely (at least for a long period) disable theses alarms sensors (motion & interior) so we can lock the car without waking up all the neighbours ?

Any hints or advices ?

Cheers !

American cruisers don’t even have a motion sensor, so I’d say it is likely to be able do what you want. It may be as simple as finding the sensor itself and unplugging it.. or maybe adding a switch to that circuit so you can disable it when you want.

One reason I think it may be as simple as unplugging is my cruiser didn’t come with the glass break sensor microphone, and installing one was just a matter of plugging it into the vehicle wiring harness in the correct place. No programming or other electronic mods were needed. If your motion sensor is similar, the car may not notice it being absent.

As for how to find it.. you probably need to find factory service manuals from your region of LandCruiser. The ones most people here have are US-based.

Hi bloc, thank you for your reply.

As you said, I first tried to locate sensors. For interior, I found them but for motion, it's more difficult as it can be a small accelerometer on a board somewhere.
And it's almost impossible to have technical/factory service manuals in Europe because even Toyota dealerships don't know much about this car...
I can only rely on US/Australia/Middle East sources of informations and theses are not very accurate for my LC version ...

Good point, I didn’t consider the sensor could be part of another more central component.

You say it “can be”.. have you found the accelerometer? My glass break sensor was wired to a module that I added.. but still, unplugging that module simply disables that feature. With so many cruisers sold without motion sensing, it may just be an additional module like my glass break sensor. I’d try disconnecting it and see what happens.

Here in the US we can pay for temporary access to “TIS” which lets us view the service info. Maybe see if there is something like that for your region?

Not yet...

Where do you plug your glass break sensor ? Maybe I can check in the same place !

Well I checked and there is no service like TIS here :(
I need to make a "friend" in a Toyota dealership in order to access technical documentation that is not public...

If you take the physical key out of the key fob and manually lock the driver door, it will lock all the doors without arming the alarm I believe.

Hmm good point ! I'll check it tomorrow and let you know !
Never tried to lock with the physical key.

Thank you !
