Thinking of doing this in early Sept. Anyone familiar with the trail and can offer their thoughts ?

Will have maybe 4 full size rigs, plenty of time, sleeping in the rigs, camping. Maybe some other trails while in the area ...coming from the Eastern Sierra...Ca.

Morrison looks like a great area. Appreciate your input.

Thanks, John

If you wouldn't mind another rig tagging along I might see about coming out. I've been to Clarks Fork Canyon once or twice but never done the trail.

Thought this video of the trail that Expedition Overland made of them running it might interest you:

Great video Shoother. Short answer is yes, you are more than welcome to hit that trail with us !

More detailed answer:
Your profile says NJ. are you still there ?? That's a really long way to travel and we would want to do some serious cordination to make it happen. We also have a long way to travel in order to do the Morrison trail. Our group needs to make a decision quickly...is this going to be our destination or not ?

Because of distance we are debating this now. For now, please stay tuned to this thread and once my group decides where we are headed, we can discuss in greater detail. This looks like a trail we want to do...for us it's over 1k just to get there...we are debating it now...thanks and stay tuned.

I'm still in NJ now but I'm going to be moving to Wyoming toward the end of this month, I should be there and unpacked by about the 25th if not earlier!

I'm going to be going to school in Powell and Commuting from where I stay in Cody for for my first year there so as long as you guys doing anything in the area lines up with my class/work schedule I should be able to make it out. Definitely keep me posted and I'll try to see what some locals have to say too. I talked to a guy with an XJ Cherokee on 35s when I was at the Canyon before and he said he had done it and it was kinda sketchy as the switchbacks were so tight but whats fun without a little bit of danger too?!

Let me bring this thread back up. Did the OP ever get around to trying out this trail? I am thinking of hitting up last min in a day or two. I have the next few days free and I am in Yellowstone. Thinking I might hang out in Lamar Valley and then slide over and run the trail. I would be in my FJ80 and solo. It might be tough. Anyone know how hard it is in a full sized truck like this? I would be willing to take my time and make a 3 point turn a 5 point if needed. Any feedback would be great.

RC,

No, we did not do this trail. Just sent you a 'Conversation' with a bit more detail.

If you do this trail, please post up...sorry we didn't do it, it sound like a neat trail and area.

John
