I bought my ‘96 Lexus LX 450 new. It had around 150K miles on it. Nothing major done over the years. Water pump, steering pump.larger tires is about all. For the last few years the power seemed to have diminished a lot. Any ideas on what I can do to get more pep out the straight 6?

if the power has diminished something is broken. you'll have to run alot of tests: compression test, vaccum test, make sure the brakes are not dragging. transmission acting correctly, etc.
power diminished due to larger tires, added weight and lift?

@Cruisers and Co - there, problem solved.
If you're not experiencing actual power loss, but just coming to terms with the sluggishness of these rigs with bigger tires, I can't recommend a transfer case regear enough. I finally regeared mine last year, after 12 years of ownership, and I feel like a fool for waiting so long. I should have done it as soon as I got the truck and put sliders and 33's on it. It's makes a tremendous difference, I couldn't be happier.

I’m sure that added to the problem. It was starting the lose some power prior to adding the tires. There’s a shop close by that specializes in Lexus vehicles. Maybe I should get them to run some tests. Thanks for the reply!

That sounds like it may do the trick. Can you give me a little info? Did you rehear it to stock or change to accommodate tires? I don’t know much about gear boxes. Ha.
