Hi all folks .. well I have my 2H engine .. realy a good and reliable engine, and I'm very hapy, but only 105 HP .. yes I have R&P and Marks gears but you now power is power ..

My 2H have about 50,000 km from it's totaly rebuilt and ir running fine and strong .. after that I took my TLC to a Diesel lab here to get proper work in the pump ( rebouild ) changet inyectors, nuts, diaphragm and finaly get little more diesel to get little more power ..

Fine .. but I'm interested in know if the only way to get more air in my 2H engine is with a turbo .. ?

Yep ATX turbo from 3,000 USD dolars .. ( for this amount I can buy a new 1HD-T engine here )

thanks to all .. !

You can remove small restrictions to airflow by porting intake manifold etc, but the vacuum created by the pistons cannot be increased. The only way to increase airflow to your engine is with a turbo. Things like "ram-air" work only at very high speeds, and are marginal improvements.

Having said this, $3000USD for a turbo is shocking I agree...why not build your own system?

definately build your own turbo. buy a 12h-t manifold and bolt something one.

for the 3b's we can use a 13b-t manifold. so Maybe a 12h-t manifold would work, then just get a turbo for 1000, or less if use a used turbo.

thats the route I am going right now. I even found a source for adapters to run garrets on the 13b-t manifold. will post a pic when it gets here. in transit now.

From an aussie site when I asked about a junkyard turbo and flipping the manifold

http://smcurl.com/wVDZb

Anyway, Schweitser is said to sell a turbo manifold for the 2h. Who that is I have no idea- no contact info nothing. If we can find out where they are and what a turbo manifold would cost it may be a viable option. Or, as brownbear suggested, finding a 12-ht manifold will be a little easier for you than it would be for me (U.S.). perhaps getting a gasket from each and comparing them?

The 12H-T manifold is a option .. maybe not easy to find here, but not imposible. Other option maybe is make a header to adapt a turbo. The question is .. AXT turbo kit comes with Diesel Pump regulator and oil laines hoses .. well many litle thing ..

The question is .. the final amount of money wasted in this proyect is more than I can spend in a new turbo kit or turbo engine.

not in Canada, but maybe diesel engines are very common in Panama. In Canada you have a replacement engine in the 6-7K range, so a turbo is no biggie...

try http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/index2.html

they may be able to help with pieces to build your own manifold. they have the flanges for garretts, etc... just take the old log of a manifold off, bring your pieces to the local machine shop, they can copy the engine mounting and weld the whole thing together. simple.

then go to the wreakers and get a decent turbo off a 3 liter gasser and stuff it on. if that doesn't work , try another turbo. you will find one that fits sooner or later.

there is lots of specs out there for a 3 b turbo(junkyard find) but not much in the way of 2h info. I would imagine a bit bigger than a 3b size.

but not huge.

Schwitzer sp? are now part of Borg Warner group.

Im dealing with Denco at the moment and they seem ok.

Berrima diesel in aust have a similar range of products.
http://www.berrimadiesel.com.au/

I found an aussie site yesterday that sells a range of cast alloy mandrels and adaptors with flanges. Not sure how to get back there, but I think the above 2 will have them.
This place may have them too http://turbotech.com.au/repairs.htm

Some pictures of a turbo on a cruiser owned by my sons mate. This 2H can really hammer it is fitted with a 4 speed with Fairey overdrive etc.Might give you some ideas for a home based job. Have more pics but downloading is very slow.

That's te point .. here we have a lots of Diesel engine .. really a lots .. ( not in good shape off course ).

If I have a lots of patiend ( and money :D ) I can find a 1HD-T engine in 3k USD and sell mine 2H in 1k USD .. spend 2K in a new engine :D ( well I know, not new )

I wil be a start my search, in manifold options .. ( not necesari a specific turbo ) when I find any I will be post here. The issue here is, not much 12H-T in the market was sold in 88 - 90 years .. I t6hought maybe 10.

You could also try a supercharger! I like the idea of thoses due to the low end torque!

exist supercharger for 2H engines . ?

Sprintex make a Supercharger for 2H in Australia.I neally got one used $2000au
but destroyed the back diff and ran out of money,Still cranky and that was 2 yrs ago

Woooouuuu .. !!!!!! ( thought that I can fall in love .. ! )

I'm go a see the Sprintex site .. did you have pic of you supercharger . ? :D

Hi everybody!

Tapage, sprintex are realy nice, at least the screw compressors! But if i had to do something like this, i'd try to snatch two G compressors from german ebay cheap !
http://cgi.ebay.fr/G60-G-60-Superch...991220121QQcategoryZ72205QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
this one is verry expensive thought it's the only one i've found! In UK, it would be cheaper to buy the car to be scraped, get the compressor shipped, and make a litle money on the other car parts! If ever you find some yard willing to do that. another getho solution i've been thinking about for a while, get a big turbo from a truck, something with may be 20cm diameter, a porter cable cordless router and use the router motor to run the intake turbine of the turbo! A switch under the accelerator pedal, and voila! It can be more refined for sure, with something like a variable voltage DC drive to control teh speed of the motor as you accelerate. I was talking about a router motor, but anny kind of DC high speed motor would do over, may be 15000rpm, providing your turbine is big enough!

These superchargers are getting a big reputation here as a top quality, high performance ,reliable unit. They are pretty quiet for their size also.

BigBrownDog .. thanks for the pics . very very interesting . !

Let me know .. this exhaust manifold come from 12H-T engine . ? is not equal as my 2H exhaus maniflold.

From what I can remember the last time I saw the motor it had a 2H exhaust manifold [ some time ago now].It is a strange set up but very effective, its not set up with a waste gate etc. I will get more info from my son and post it.They were working on it last weekend.
