Ello all,

I have a tan 2000 LX with 205k on the clock that I am very happy with and have kept up on the maintenance well over the years. I was stumbling around on the internet and there is a green LX, same year for sale with 109k miles and $14k. Is it worth the swap for miles? It still has the AHC and I obviously don't have the history with it but whatcha think??

I don't see a moral dilemma in this scenario.
A well maintained high mileage cruiser of known history, especially if low/no rust, is worth more, IMHO, than low miles and unknown history. Miles can be deceiving, too. When I was looking for a replacement for my beloved 2001 LC that was totaled (nobody hurt, not at fault), I drove a bunch of low mileage, newer, rusty, turds.
I am sure my fam thinks I am nuts, but wound up buying a 2006 LX with 200k on the clock, all Lexus service records, from dry AZ, you would not guess it has 200k if I didn't tell you. It was the best available at the time.

This one has been in Durango, CO it's whole life and been driven by a grandma. It would help if I could at least see it but it's 5.5 hours away... So i'm deciding if the trip is worth it either

How much will the swap cost you? Personally I wouldn't swap it. All that work that you have done to maintain your truck to a standard and then you pass on the rewards to someone else and start again. I can see why you would want to do it but I couldn't justify it myself. Even if it was a free trade I would still have my reservations, but I do get attached and get proud of the higher mileage I gain. If your truck has issues then fair enough, have a look.

I will only sell if I want to upgrade or something catastrophic happens to it. My upgrade would have to be a 150 prado as they only sold the 200 as a diesel in the UK and they have even stopped selling them, so the prices are high. So hopefully the 100 lasts a long time.

Yeah. All my hard work has me double thinking. The only positives to getting a new one are a wayy better color and lower miles. But nothing is wrong with it now. It would probably be $3k more. Ughhh

If I had to choose one just on looks, then I would choose yours. Green and grey isn't a color combo I would go for. I have blue and light grey, I am not a fan of the grey with a dark color, I will change mine to blue and black at some point as that seems to be a more modern combo. Good luck with what ever you choose to do.

Color is subjective. Your current truck is gorgeous. There are so many factors that come in to play. I am kind of like the previous poster, I get connected to my vehicles, and there is something in the peace of mind of knowing how it's been treated over previous years. It's hard starting over with the unknown of a new vehicle.

Hah I'm literally on the same boat as you before. I had a 1999 4.2L diesel with the 4 speed auto. 365,000 kms and the oil still runs golden, never black. Just scored a really good deal of a 2005 4.2L diesel with the newer 5 speed auto. 410,000 kms but oil is black. It's a much more refined gearbox than my old one but I'm still in a dilemma if I should keep the new one or sell it at market price for some cash. At this rate I'm most likely to keep my old one as I've grown really attached to it. Probs use the extra cash for a brand new ARB bar :cool:

I'm creeping up on 320k and I am swapping in a new TB/WP soon to take it over 400k. I'm a fan of maintenance of miles as a critical factor, though both have their place.
