Y'all need to get 105's into the states and settle this dilema;)

I think what bothers me more than a moderator's possibly heavy hand is reading posts by someone who thinks he's some kind of expert...one who loves to talk trash, but can't take what he dishes out...

What was that phrase about glass houses and stones again? How'd that go?

Have you been nipping at the Nog?

Have you been nipping at the Nog?

nippin' at the nog? no.

life outside of MUD caused me to miss this discussion when it first ran.

for some reason that I'm not sure I can pinpoint quite yet, I felt some sort of uncontrollable forum gang member mentality come over me...I couldn't stop myself for posting in the thread.

Mods have to make judgment calls all the time to keep things on the level of tech/chat that they prefer. Woody gives a pretty free hand to the mods for this, but the standard is if it ain't tech it belongs in chat or deleted. If you really didn't mean to bitch, CDrew, then delete the thread, 'cause that's what it's coming off as.

Mostly I mod in Chat so I don't have to worry about anything except too much tech.

Romer, e999, Gumbster...lots of the mods DO put in a lot of time...sadly, my online time is largely spent with PM's and emails and addressing the few "fires" that occur each week. Wish I did have more time to enjoy the tech discussions.

It is likely time to add a second moderator to the 100 corner...prices are getting more into the "2nd vehicle" range and traffic will continue to increase...I've got a couple folks I may be contacting on this, just need to spend some research time first.

Remember, one of the FEW things I don't tolerate on the forum includes personal attacks. This is, afterall, JUST the internet, and anyone can be a chest-thumper online...I can't tell you how many people are surprised when they meet me (not sure that's good or bad)

Ive had some pm's back and forth with the mod on the 100 board, and how tech threads deteriorate, and the way they are being handled which has accelerated the issue, and will continue to add to his work load, unless he treats the cause, rather than the symptoms.

This was done as an FYI to try and make his task easier, because sometimes its hard to see when your trying to keep control of the situation, but the 100 board hasnt been the same since this "phonomona" has been occurring, and I think most of the tech posters would agree, given the comments and pm's they are putting out of late.

Unfortunately, if it isnt nipped in the bud soon, the mod work rate will continue to become more busy, and the tech threads wont be posted in, or read by those who have been contributing good stuff there beforehand.

Having been a mod in lots of places, its a thankless job, and your only ever 50% right in the eyes of the members at best on such issues, but assertive, positive, and pro active [not reactive] so a theme and standard is set, and people understand what is expected is the ideal place to be, because those who make the effort to post to help others will then help keep that theme and standard, making the task easier for all involved.

This board has been excellent in the above regards, which probably highlights the current issue more than would normally be the case, but I see that as all the more reason to manage the situation.

jerry springer is an excellent option..
