Cary-I know you are a lawyer and all that, but this isn't about "legal rights".

That is not what you said in your initial post. To quote you exactly you said "This is censorship, and it isn't right." and "Freedom and democracy-it's the American way!!!" In my book that implies that you are making a first amendment arguement.

I'm going to crawl back in my cage now, I shouldn't be debating points, I'm set to kill right now as I have trial set to go next Monday. :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Seriously...although (seemingly) a lot of the comments in the 80 vs 100 thread were a bit uncalled for, it did make the thread interesting and, as always, provide a bit of comic relief for those (like me) stuck behind a computer monitor all day long

Have fun Y`all !

I woke up this morning and quickly went to that thread just to find some of it had been deleted. It was quite interesting.

But we all do agree tho, the 105 is a good mix of both trucks right?

 Wow. I think I'll go back over to the much calmer 80's section.

Maybe Eric took offense to the fact that it occured in a thread he'd started if I'm getting the jist of where this came from to begin with?

Clarification: I'm letting this thread go on despite some back and forth already and a complete lack of tech content since it addresses a complaint about my handling the exped thread. So I suppose in a roundabout way it is 100-tech forum related and deserves a chance to be read. Any more personal attacks on somebody else besides me, though, and it goes to Chat or will be canned altogether.

As far as the exped thread is concerned, as I said, I'm closing it down until everybody calms down. I cleaned it up because there is some good stuff in there and I may put it in FAQ. When everybody is ready to have constructive comments again, I'll reopen it for further *interesting and congenial* posting... If it becomes clear that's not going to happen, then I'll close it for good.

I think it is interesting how much commotion our 100-series LC's create :D The very fact that someone (keeps) asking the comparitive question (100 vs 80 series) gives credence to the 100. IMO there is no universal "best" of anything for everyone!

maybe you should first check what thread is being talked about here?

Maybe somebody is touchy, unless I'm getting the wrong impression here Eric.

that's why the ??? mark on my post. I didn't know which thread started this ruckus. I only saw your thread on the 100 vs the 80 in the sand comparison and noticed a few deleted responses (prior to posting on this thread).

No need to jump all over me too. I'm not the one that buried your :censor: 100 in the sand!

Wow. You guys are nuts. Someone could write their masters psychology thesis on this. ;-)

The moderator does well on MUD. I enjoyed the information on the 80 vs 100 thread, but agree that there was a lot of unnecessary rhetoric in it.

First, I would take either an 80 or a 100 on an expedition over another brand SUV. Next, I would pick the 100 over the 80 because it has more room and is more comfortable on a long trip. It will run fine on 87 gasoline, esp. 2001 and newer ones. I personally believe the mechanical differences between the 80 and 100 on an expedition do not put the 100 at disadvantage; not when you see others on the same road in Suburbans, Expeditions, Jeeps, etc.

Therefore, my choice (if cost was not an issue) for the trip would be a new LX470 with about 15K miles (broken in) and the 7yr/100K Lexus Platinum warranty. That is an amazing road machine, paved or unpaved (or none). Then, let Lexus know you are taking their new LX around the world, share photos of the shocked expressions on people faces as they see the big L in such outlandish places, and you may even find your vehicle in one of the Lexus brochures or magazines; or website. Meanwhile, you have enjoyed the travel in air conditioned filtered air comfort. One can always dream.

I have no idea what thread you are talking about. The Thread title caught my interest and thats why I am reading it. It's tough being a moderator. You get to piss a lot of people off while making others happy. I made a very good friend angry once and we later worked it out over a beer.

I have deleted posts because I thought the discussion went the wrong way, I have closed threads. It's a judgment call. Right, wrong or indifferent, Eric is volunteering his time to moderate this section and he deserves your appreciation.

Andy, I consider you a friend and I mean this in a constructive way, I think you were wrong to post this. I think you should have tried to work it with him off line. If working it off line didn't come to the resolution you wanted, it's Eric's call and you need to respect that.

thanks for all the constructive comments above, folks.

Everybody is welcome to keep on debating this as much as you like.

In the meantime, as I said I would, I have reopened the exped thread in the hope that the cooling-off period will ensure that the inputs will now remain tech and congenial.

.

That's why you have to be a supamod. You don't have to do anything but strut around like yer king of the world.

You regular guys have to work too hard. :D

Mods have to make judgment calls all the time to keep things on the level of tech/chat that they prefer. Woody gives a pretty free hand to the mods for this, but the standard is if it ain't tech it belongs in chat or deleted. If you really didn't mean to bitch, CDrew, then delete the thread, 'cause that's what it's coming off as.

Mostly I mod in Chat so I don't have to worry about anything except too much tech.

I agree our moderator is doing a fine job. Keep up the good work guys.

I think what bothers me more than a moderator's possibly heavy hand is reading posts by someone who thinks he's some kind of expert...one who loves to talk trash, but can't take what he dishes out...

What was that phrase about glass houses and stones again? How'd that go?
