Modding OEM Skids for quick oil changes?

Has anyone done this? I am going to have to add a front hitch to carry bikes when we tow our camper and the only way to do the oil changes is to drop the skid. Has anyone cut a hole out and figured out a way to attach the cut portion back to be secure?
