Dumb question here, but I have red a few things on here about different types of oil in the older cruiser engines etc... Is this oil for an FJ40 2F engine or is this for the newer cruisers, like the etc.? If ok in the 2F's is Mobil 1 what is being run? Just curious...

There is no problem with using a synthetic in older engines. It is also acceptable to mix the oils. Some have said that in older high mileage engines synthetics would cause leaks. Well they did not cause the leaks but they did not have seal swellers added to their mix and as a result, would in fact leak. It was not because of the oil, it was because of the lack of a seal swelling agent. You can now buy synthetic with seal swellers added, such as Mobil 1 high mileage.

Synthetic oil is superior to dino oil. Both do their jobs well and many people will question if the synthetic is worth the premium price, especially given the low revving and relatively low load our engines see, as compared to sports cars or race vehicles. For me the relatively minor cost of using the oil is worth it.

Bob the oil guy is the best resource to ultimately answer this question but be prepared, there is so much information there it is mind numbing...

I always get mine at Walmart. Never had any issues. Definitely a great deal when Walmart is selling the 5qt jugs for $22.
