Sadly, a trip to Moab this year was not in the cards for most people, and we are down to 1 or 2 people remaining, so Im gonna call it. :crybaby: We will try again next year!!

So now Ive got no wheeling planned in the near future, this must be fixed.

My dumbass ideas:

1. A PYS I style trip in Michigan.

We can hit 3 or 4 parks up there that all look somewhat promising. From here its 5 hours to Rocks and Valleys, then 1.5 hrs to The Mounds, then 2 hours to Bundy Hill, then 4 hours back home. We can hit up Silver Lake on the way to Rocks and valleys if anyone wants (its a good "on the way stop").

This can be shrunk or modified in any way to fit what people are up to. I think it would take about a week.

2. A PYS V style trip to Harlan KY.

There is about 8000 acres and 150 miles of trail!! It looks very pretty and seems to have a lot of recreation in the area (river stuff!!!!). It looks like we can definitely set up a single camp for a week and travel from it. Its about 8 hrs from here.

I would like to do this in late July or early August.

Plus either of these trips COULD bring some of our long lost Hoosier brethren out of their caves to play with their dusty wheelers!!

Thoughts?

Or am I doomed to spend the rest of the summer playing with myself, maybe Ill pickup shuffle board....:hhmm:

Dont forget drummond island up in the UP. Very nice up there.

I can attest that harlan is well worth the drive, the trails are nice and can get very difficult with some rain sprinkled in. I think it may be in a dry county so check booze may have to be trucked in. I also think you can camp anywhere on the mountain.

This is good i still have time to bank money and time off for moab.

Including anything in the UP will double the distance of the trip...

EDIT: Just checked, its barely UP. Looks like a cool location. Still pretty far, though the best park of bunch seems to be rocks and valleys and if we eliminated the "detroit area parks" (and maybe left them for a fall run) then drummond could work....

Or another option to go along with a R&V/drummond island trip is a place near traverse city called twisted trails...

August 8th is when I'll finally have vacation time.

Harlan ky would be possible if I can get my junk fixed. It just made it into the garage after 2 months undrivable.

The mounds sucks. At least it did when I wheeled there in the 90s.

Mounds blows ass. Scratch it off the list now. Drummond is a place I want to try badly. Twisted trails looks pretty good, but I don't know a lot about it. OSTC is another that isn't bad, but last time there in my 4runner I blew through the entire park in under 4 hours. Granted that was on 42's,but still.

I really like the idea of Michigan, but if the date stays the same I will still be in atlanta.

I thought one of those weeks you were free?

Get the shuffle board and I'll come over

Well, if Mounds blows ass, bundy hill doesnt look spectacular, Maybe a northern MI trip; R&V, twisted trails, drummond....

If anyone is up for this..... Shuffle board looks good, I can wear wicker shoes and socks...

14' shuffle board on craigslist for $695

Coincidence? I think not...

Keep in mind that not evreyones a small business owner married to a teacher, vacation times limited so shuffle boad is the only option. With only12 days of vacation time for the next 5 yrs, epic wheeling trips may only be epic 3 or 4 day wheeling trips for myself as i have free world travel and theres alot of global shuffle board to be played.

I know. But you cant blame a guy for trying. If no one is up for this then maybe Ill just go for a weekend to bundy or R&V.... Or Ill just play shuffle board until hoedown.

Or are our get togethers less about wheeling now?

Negative sir, all about the wheeling, at least i am. I didnt sink a fxxx load of money, and more coming up, and make it damn near undriveable to drink beer around it. I cant wait until i bank more vacation time and money and go on some of these long trips. Im already thinking next year doing 4 days of pys and 4 days of whatever other trip you guys go on.

I know a guy with a place and camper in the U.P.

Just sayin...

OT #3 Christ!

I want to get out on one of these trips if I can squeeze it in. I will just watch your dates and if it lands where it works then great.
I finally got tired of waiting on myself to fix the 40 so it went to a trusted mechanic this week. His diagnosis seems to make sense so I gave him the OK to fix the bitch, we'll see if its the ticket.

Damn, I know I was giving you hell about getting to go to Moab with out me, but I hate that the trip fell through. Was hoping you guys would get the bugs worked out this year to make it better for the rest of us next year. Also the earlier we can set a date for next year the better.

Would love to make either trip but time off is hard to get right now. If you head to KY I might be able to get a Mon and Tues. to make it a long weekend.
