Sadly, a trip to Moab this year was not in the cards for most people, and we are down to 1 or 2 people remaining, so Im gonna call it.
We will try again next year!!
So now Ive got no wheeling planned in the near future, this must be fixed.
My dumbass ideas:
1. A PYS I style trip in Michigan.
We can hit 3 or 4 parks up there that all look somewhat promising. From here its 5 hours to Rocks and Valleys, then 1.5 hrs to The Mounds, then 2 hours to Bundy Hill, then 4 hours back home. We can hit up Silver Lake on the way to Rocks and valleys if anyone wants (its a good "on the way stop").
This can be shrunk or modified in any way to fit what people are up to. I think it would take about a week.
2. A PYS V style trip to Harlan KY.
There is about 8000 acres and 150 miles of trail!! It looks very pretty and seems to have a lot of recreation in the area (river stuff!!!!). It looks like we can definitely set up a single camp for a week and travel from it. Its about 8 hrs from here.
I would like to do this in late July or early August.
Plus either of these trips COULD bring some of our long lost Hoosier brethren out of their caves to play with their dusty wheelers!!
Thoughts?
Or am I doomed to spend the rest of the summer playing with myself, maybe Ill pickup shuffle board....
